Great field trip
Apr 2021
This was our first visit to see the oldest Croatian written monument. The guide was really well prepared and explained a brief history of Baščanska ploča.

Hugely interesting historical location
Aug 2019
Contains a replica of the Baska Tablet, which is enormously interesting - will give you an insight into the Galgolitic characters spread around the countryside. Also claims to have the oldest representation of the Croatian chequerboard design on the exterior wall.

Built on a roman villa, there are also a few reminders of this period to be seen.

We had a young guide who spoke excellent English, and the lovely lady in the visitor office (from Rijeka - sadly I didn't get her name) was full of information about the church, the area, and Croatia in general. Really glad we made the effort to come the couple of hundred metres from the main road.

Nice little church, though worth only a stop of a couple of minutes, it was not open when we stopped by.

A historic site
Oct 2017 • Couples
We had heard about the historical "Baška plate" and went to see it when visiting Baška. Jurandvor is a village next to Baška and the church of St. Lucy is easily accessible, only about 200 m away from the main road to Baška.
Tickets have to be purchased, but they are not expensive (approx. 3 EUR). Visitors are shown a 15-minute film about the church and the Baška plate, which is a very old stone plate with an engraved text in a script which was quite mysterious for a long time, but was later on deciphered and represents the earliest Croatian text. Very interesting, not only for Croatians.

What should this be
Sep 2017 • Family
Nice little church with an important place in Croatian history. But as one turist noticed during my visit, the entrance fee is not usually collected for churches. There are exeptions and the fee is low but it is a small place and it only offers the replica of Baščanska ploča, while the original is in Zagreb.

Baska Guitar Festival
Aug 2017 • Friends
Of course Jurandvor and Bascanska ploca is a must. Seeing a film in a small gallery and then entering the church is always exciting. But being there in August, don't miss the guitar concerts with the world famous players. The unique atmosphere, the smell and the sounds of the surroundings, the changing light effects on the church walls. If you like jazz, friendly atmosphere and guitars, go there, the entrance is free!

Important Cultural Location
Aug 2017 • Family
We took a day trip from Krk to Baska and stopped here to visit this small but culturally and historically important church. Tickets at the location include guided tour and about 10 minutes of educational movie. Tickets for adults are 25 kunas and for teenagers 15 kunas. Small children can visit for free.
Movie is interesting and informative. Tour is also interesting and our guide was knowledgable and he told lots of interesting stories about location. The entire tour with movie is about 30 minutes long. Definetely worth to visit because of its significance.

Baščanska ploča is one ot the most important monument of croatian literacy.
You can pay for a small tour at the souvenir shop and you get to see a cinematic about the discovery an meaning and a tour of the church. And if you are croat you get to learn the right way to pronounce it :)

Interesting historic site on Croatian Island of Krk. The Baska tablet is probably the most famous monument of early Croatian literacy, dating from about 1100 a church itself is very interesting too.

Must See
Aug 2016 • Couples
We visited this small church when we were in Baska. It truly is beautiful and a must see. Definitely worth taking an hour to visit the church and walk the grounds. There is a small souvenir shop attached to the property that also sells refreshments.
