Kakuonji is one of my favorite temples in Kamakura. it's quiet, and calm. I've always felt like the word serenity best describes this place.

I watch my friend Fukotomi-san offered prayers their tradition ways.Lighting incense sticks. Some of the trees were changing colors so it was anice view. It was Nov 1990 so almost 15 years ago already

I visited this temple at the end of October last year when all the leaves on the trees were beautifully colored. It was rain but yellow colored leaves on Gingko trees in its garden were amazingly shining. There are over 100 of temples and shrines...More

Kakuonji owns a very large plot of land, has few tourists, and is utterly beautiful and serene. You have to pay to get inside the temple grounds at specific times for tours. Almost all of the grounds are in shade from the many trees. One...More
