- LucyOrrskiBurlington, New Jersey11 contributionsWORTH IT!Such a fun experience! Highly recommend, get tickets early if possible for front of room seats. Such current topics and very fast delivery - easy to follow for me and my daughter (2 different generations and lots of laughs)Visited January 2023Written 9 July 2023
- Dream513745252193 contributionsDon't miss this show!Interesting and fun, Unlike anything else. This quaint theater and talented cast gave a bit of everything in the show Dancing singing comedy and magic. They even include the audience and people on the street walking by the theater.Visited July 2023Travelled soloWritten 24 July 2023
- hubwdw44 contributionsA highlight on our trip to Austin - would recommendVery funny current comedy show with talented performers interspersed with impressive magic acts. Suggest sitting higher in the audience for better view of outside antics which are part of the show. You may have to call and request this. Sound clarity could have been a little better - it was sometimes to understand. Sitting further back may have helped that also.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 October 2023

The performances are hilarious and the staff that work there are top notch. They even gave us party favors for NYE. - Northern_Traveler00California75,431 contributionsOh what fun!Not much info on the website, but the folks in the Austin forum here at TA kept saying we had to go so, we had to go. Buy tix in advance for best seating, we were in the middle about six rows back which was great. Too far to the sides you might miss something. They call it Vaudeville, and I can’t disagree. Funny songs, jokes, and a great magician. Lots of costume changes, a bit of audience interaction, and the windows to the street bring in unplanned and planned extras.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 January 2024
- Ray WolfLago Vista, Texas204 contributionsThis show is destined to be remembered with the likes of Johnny Carson and Carol Burnet. One of the last true Austin vestiges that you never get tired of seeing. The humor is updated to match the current topics of today. Every time I go I leave asking how did they think of that skit. 90 minute show flys by. Don’t hesitate I dare not think when 6th street might be high rise condos and this stage will be never more!Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 January 2024
- Julie H1 contributionGreat choice for a fun night out! While visiting Austin, I was looking for something different to do for a night out. We had gone to so many restaurants and music venues so was ready to try something new! I had no idea what Ester Follies was . WOW what a fun night. We all laughed so hard. This is a great night out for adults of all ages. We plan to return again.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 January 2024
- Scott B100 contributionsA really funny retro musical experience. We were delighted by Esther’s Folly. It was a really fun and energetic show with music parodies, sketches, and a magician. Like a modern version of an old-time vaudeville/variety show. Most of the really funny songs and sketches made fun of news, politics, and current events. A few meh songs were dated (one about having a hard time finding a boyfriend, one about old ladies getting Covid vaxes so they can go out while the rest of us are stuck at home- what is this, 2021?). The magic was impressive and the entire cast was really talented, witty, and charming. The theater itself is fun and funky, including wacky decor and a bar.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 January 2024
- GraceBoulder, Colorado14 contributionsRollicking Laughter - the best timeI mistakenly thought this was going to be an improv show. It was not. Esther's Follies was a series of short skits , some with fun magic tricks, that showcased the comedy, dance, and singing of the very talented cast. The comedy was biting and taken from the local and national headlines. The magic parts were thrilling and infused with humor. The singing was not at all cheesy. The whole crowd was laughing so loudly and enthusiastically for the entire show, and that is soooo healing! Loved it.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 February 2024

Book it! The show is hilarious, creative, and something we’d go back to see again! I wouldn’t recommend for children - the jokes are more geared toward adults.

We bought tickets last minute and didn’t know what to expect. We were blown away! The performers are incredibly talented and it’s the perfect combo of singing, magic, comedy skits, and off-color (mostly political) humor.Unlike comedy clubs there’s no drink minimum and there’s a full bar and food truck outside the front doors. We’ll be back for sure!

Treat yourself to non-stop laughs at this comedy/magic show. No matter what your political stand your feathers may be ruffled a bit - but not harshly. Many short costumed skits including an amazing comedian and his assistant. A must see if you’re in Austin.

Would a 14-15yr old who likes sketch comedy & is somewhat aware of political events enjoy the show? Salty language & light innuendo is fine.

I think it would be fine to bring a 14 - 15 yr old. if they're politically aware, they would certainly understand the jokes. I do not feel it was overly raunchy, just clever political satire. all that being said, it is liberal leaning in it's content. and the magic was amazing. enjoy the show!

Is the show different every night?
Round Rock Foodie
Round Rock, TX317 contributions
The shows on a weekend are the same. However, the script is modified every week to cover different current events. Where I see the most consistency is with the magic act. But, these are always good and always enjoyed. There are always a few tried-and-true skits. We always look forward to the Texas redistricting skit by former Texas Governor Rick Perry. I have been to the shows over five times, and no two shows are the same. Further, I've never been disappointed that any two shows are almost the same.

Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha, that's a great question!
Austin, much to the disappointment of indigenous Austinites, has become Silicon Valley liberal, and some Trump bashing is to be expected. But don't let that stop you from enjoying a not to be missed trip back to vaudeville.

It was largely a liberal crowd and liberal-oriented humor, but far less biting than a lot of what you might see on late-night television. If you ever find this sort of humor funny I expect you will enjoy the show.
