Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Historic church under remodeling, but should be open soon for tours. I hope the remodeling goes well.

Lovely historical little church with breathtaking stained glass windows dating back to 19th century. Must see in Abbeville!

This is a lovely church with an interesting history. Friendly staff and a nice respite. If you're lucky there will be someone there to play the historic organ.

Such a beautiful little Gothic church with a boxwood garden next to it. Extensive research has been undertaken recently and it was discovered that the chancel window and one other window were made by Gibson, the father of stained glass painting in America! Restoration plans are underway. What a beautiful setting in which to worship and meditate.

Abbeville is one of my favorite small towns to visit in SC with so much to offer for the day or a weekend. One of my favorite stops is Trinity Episcopal Church. This historic building is steeped in history and is an amazing piece of architecture, two of my most passionate interests. It harkens to a simpler and more peaceful time and one can feel those gone before who worshipped and found refuge there. Until recently, it was free and open to the public, offering a quiet place to rest and find a few moments of peace from our hectic lives. Unfortunately, upkeep is costly and the building has suffered over the past century. It deserves to be preserved for future generations of history and architecture enthusiasts and as a draw to those visiting this beautiful little town.

Although it seems to be falling down, this is actually a vibrant little church. We have visited there for historic occasions as well as visiting while looking for a local church. If possible, get one of the older members of the church to tell you some of the great stories about the Civil War era. Fascinating.

I've visited Abbeville, SC several times in the last few years and I ALWAYS make time to drop in on Trinity for a little peaceful time in a beautiful, old church ... The place is imbued with history, with the devotion of generations of good people, with the fierce pride of a community -- I just love it. LIke a step back in time.

This National Register church is impressive, alright. As you approach along Trinity Street, the view of the tall-steepled front of this venerable Gothic beauty (consecrated 1860) is downright dramatic. Inside, the tall and narrow stained glass windows merit the high praise that reviewers have heaped on them. Trinity Episcopal is located just one block from the town square and definitely worth a visit.

A $2 million project is currently underway to repair the steeple, which tops out at 120 feet. The supporting base of the scaffolding had to be installed on the entrance floor because the loft above cannot bear the weight of the scaffolding. It was necessary to cut holes through the entrance ceiling in order to erect the scaffolding.

I've visited Trinity Episcopal a couple of times - beautiful pre-Civil War treasure. On the most recent visit a service had just ended and we were able to hear the organ and visit with the Father who conducted the service. If you are in Abbeville, don't miss seeing this church.
