Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very nice, scenic park that you can drive thru and stop along the way to enjoy it. The visitor center is small but has a nice exhibit and the staff member was extremely friendly and helpful.

Beautiful State Park with a small, but very nice, informative visitor center. The Park Ranger was very helpful with information about the park and even helped by providing information on local eateries. We later talked with him in the evening at the dam while viewing a herd of elk of about 15, of which there were 3 bulls.

What a great find for me. I travel PA quite a bit but had never been to this State Park. Also really cool is that they have a Passport book for $10 that you can track your visits. Turns out over the years, I've manage to visit about 50% of PA's over 100 state parks. Now I'm motivated to increase that percentage. But back to this place - wonderful visitors center that both children and adults will enjoy. Well marked paths. Knowledgeable staff. Great experience. And free.

The visitor center is very kid friendly with some interactive activities and cool tunnel to crawl in. Also some informational stuff for kids involving animals and history of Sinnemahoning. Trails are stoned and nice to walk on, lots of nice overlooks and places to pull off to if you're in a car. Fishing is good and really nice picnic areas as well as a small park for kids. Passed a campground as well on the drive through the park road.

We have been here twice and love it. It is so remote, no cell service, but that's ok. It is a beautiful park with great trails. The lake is a fairly nice size and nice for kayaking. This year the water level was higher so we were able to go farther upstream. Bald eagles, osprey, ducks, frogs, turtles were some of the wildlife we saw. Also heard owls and coyotes at night.
As far as the campground, the sites are a decent size. We have a 27 ft travel trailer and had no trouble backing it in. Only electric hookups, but water is close. Very clean bathhouse. The campground only has 30 some sites. It is about 45 minutes from Benezette, so you can go see the elk while you are there. There is a small store and gas station not far from the entrance.

Of the many PA, NY, and DE state parks I've visited in recent years, this is one of the best. The campground itself is pretty small, but the campsites are a nice size--including two walk-in tent sites. We visited in early August and saw so many elk in and around the park, especially at dawn and dusk. And the park office is beautiful! This is a must-stop for the family; kids will love the nature exhibits and crawl-through bear tunnel.

My daughter and I went camping to my brother's camp along the river. We had beautiful weather. While there, we drove through the state park area. Everything was so green and beautiful. We stopped at the dam sight where Kayaking is permitted. There were quite a few on the dam the morning we went. Later that day, the teenagers kayaked down the river and we picked them up along the shore near the Willow's. It was very relaxing and if you like camping this is a great area. We also drove into Austin for the 4th of July Fireworks. They always do a great job - they lasted about a half an hour or so. There is very limited cell phone service in some areas but you have to drive to find them - where were are there is no cell phone service at all. There is a little country store at the entrance near the dam. They have very good ice cream. We buy our ice there but the day we were there around noon, we bought the last 5 bags and they were not getting more that day.
