While in Dotonbori, we walked the narrow lanes and stumbled upon the Hozenji-temple. As we were there in the morning, there were no crowds. The temple is a small neat place and it was a unique experience seeing the moss covered Buddha statue.

Witness the the Buddha statue filled with green moss. A unique sight. Located right in the heart of the city shopping belt. A good breakaway from the city crowd. Historical value. Worth visiting

This temple was different from others we visited as it had a water shrine. It is a small temple so suggest it is only worth a quick visit if you are in the area.

A small shrine in the middle of Dotonburi - easy to find, quaint and interesting. Pour a splash of water over the each of the deities as the locals do.

I was asking around for this temple. A couple of young Japanese who apparently lived nearby were checking their GPS to help me find the temple even though it turned out to be juts 200 meters away. But I was happy to visit this small...More
