We visited this temple after completing the Philosopher's Walk and found it to be relatively quiet in comparison with some other temples. Beautiful gardens,

If you are a casual temple voyeur like me, you may think there is too many to choose from and just pick a couple. All good - but don't miss this one. Located at the end of the philosophers walk and to other more famous...More

Dropped by as it wasn't too far from prince hotel and the reviews seem pretty positive. Compared to the golden temple, this one is pretty serene with no crowd. A nice walk up to the pagoda gives a bird's eye view of kyoto . Really...More

We have visited this temple in early April this year. We arrived to the spot early in the morning after our strolling along the Philosopher's Walk. The temple was not yet opened to the public and so we just took a few photos from outside...More

How is this place not more popular? We were here on a Tuesday afternoon in mid March. Other temples like Kiyomizu-dera and Kinkaku-ji were packed, yet this temple was almost empty. You get to go inside the temple and wander through a decent amount of...More

I went a bit overboard, and went to a lot more temples than I should have. Some stood out, some didn't, and some of them felt kinda superfluous compared to the others. This one was much bigger than the others, at least in terms of...More

Spent 2 hrs walking the grounds. The gardens and buildings are very well kept. It wasn’t busy during the week day. I really enjoy taking my time with the hustle. At the end was statue that looks over his shoulder.

I think this temple and surrounding gardens would be absolutely beautiful during the fall season, but we came in early October and saw just a glimpse of leaves changing color. Nevertheless, it was tranquil and quiet as it isn't visited as much by tourists. Highly...More

We did the Kyoto walk for the Old Canal which included this Temple, not very busy so made it most enjoyable. We managed to take some very good photographs here. Gets extremely busy during Cherry blossom and autumn time.

An hour would be a good amount of time. Lots of walking and steps if you want to see the temple. May not be easy with a stroller unless you just stay in the gardens, in which case an hour may be long. It also depends on the... More
