Neighbourhood: Western Kyoto
Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street takes visitors back in time to the Meiji Period, where old homes have been transformed into tea houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The area's famously tall bamboo groves, monkey park, and impressive vistas during the Hanami cherry blossom viewing season mean that it is busiest in warmer months, though also gorgeous in the fall, when the mountains and hills along the banks turn multi-colored. Historic and engaging, even the rail cars in Western Kyoto seek to exemplify its traditional nature and scenic beauty. Many people, including natives, come to visit the 1,200 rakan statues at the Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple, which is still in use as a religious site.

I went to buy Yojiya souvenirs as it’s only found in Kyoto!
I bought aburatori gami ( face oil blotting paper) and perfume.
The perfume is amazing!
A bit pricey but everything is made in Japan and top quality. Show your passport so you can get tax free.
I didn’t try the cafe.

We took bus to a stop closest to the famous bamboo forest, and the cafe is right near the bus stop. We ordered green tea cappuccino and cake, and they were both delicious. Tea was soothing and beautiful.

Expensive but not excessive. Just a typical cafe by Yojiya brand. Not the very best cafe but decent enough to entertain ones.

Good place to have lunch or coffee. Macha Latte was very nice and worth trying. Lunch are reasonable price and my daughter really like curry. You can also buy Yojiya cosmetics adjoining shop to restaurant.

The Yojiya Cafe was a decent find.

After wandering through the bamboo groves, we were hungry. We spotted the famed Yojiya Cosmetics and noticed that they had a cafe adjacent to their store. So we decided to give it a shot.

They have pretty decent pasta and brunch-style foods. Dessert was also pretty good.

After finishing a leisure walk in Bamboo Street, we reached this lovely Yojiya Café nearby.

Yojiya Café is situated in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Its traditional Kyoto garden design shows the beautiful Japanese architecture.
Yojiya is a well-known brand for its famous Japanese cosmetic products. Its signature café is also very popular. We had tried the signature mocha coffee (660Yen). It shows the signature face of Yojiya with the taste of green tea, which is very special and unique. A bit pricey for a coffee though, it worths the money!
I had ordered Tofu steak sandwiches (850Yen) for myself. The patty of tofu steak with sweet soy sauce Hiziki (Japanese style seaweeds sauce) and pumpkin tasted gorgeous! It is a must try item! After my first bite, I couldn’t resist the temptation! It tastes really good!
My partner had ordered the Japanese Omelette rice (950Yen) for himself. The fried rice with chicken inside the omelette matched well with the sauce, it serves with a piece of tofu steak and some lavers on top. I adore this dish indeed. Very delicate!

The overall environment there is very cozy and relaxing. It serves a nice view of a Japanese garden. If I come over Kyoto again, I would definitely return here!

I hope you would enjoy your stay here if you once visit it!

Spending per head: Approximately 1560Yen (Lunch)
