The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Western Kyoto
Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street takes visitors back in time to the Meiji Period, where old homes have been transformed into tea houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The area's famously tall bamboo groves, monkey park, and impressive vistas during the Hanami cherry blossom viewing season mean that it is busiest in warmer months, though also gorgeous in the fall, when the mountains and hills along the banks turn multi-colored. Historic and engaging, even the rail cars in Western Kyoto seek to exemplify its traditional nature and scenic beauty. Many people, including natives, come to visit the 1,200 rakan statues at the Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple, which is still in use as a religious site.

Me and my partner went and had a 30 minute foot massage in a floral bath and a 10 minute neck and shoulder massage. Included was a drink and a little sweet. As soon as you walked in you were greeted with a relaxing ambiance with the music and everyone being so friendly! Both types of massages we took were incredibly relaxing and we walked out of there so relaxed and so happy! It is very close to the bamboo grove so it was very fitting to treat yourself with an amazing massage right after! Would strongly recommend going here!!

We stopped by without a booking and were lucky enough to get an appointment within 30 minutes, with our family of 4 going 2 at a time. Not only was the 15 minute soak and 15 minute foot massage extremely good and a welcome respite from the bustle outside, but the staff were exceptionally friendly. When we mentioned that we were looking to buy japan rugby shirts one of the masseurs called a store for us and had the sizes put aside for us to collect later (thanks - we got them). Totally recommend.

I had a lovely 30 minute foot spa and massage here. The space is beautiful as is the service, but the most special part is the people. Reiko-san was a wonderful, warm person and she gave me a lovely massage. I definitely recommend you come here for a little bit of self care during all your travels in Kyoto!

I’d found this on TA months ago when I started planning our trip to Japan, so it was hotly anticipated

We visited the bamboo forest and did a little shopping in the main high street before having our foot bath

The shop manager and his team were very welcoming and friendly. We picked the flower bath for a 30min treatment and aggggghhhhhh it was so good. The fragrance of the flowers , the gentle heat of the water on my worn out feet and then a lovely foot rub

I’d recommend a visit; a moment out to relax and cherish memories of your holiday to Japan

After a morning trekking through the bamboo forest and hiking up to the Monkey Park, my family (including husband and 10 year old daughter) were thrilled to find this oasis. My daughter loved the flower soak, and the foot rub was a dream! We only wished it had been longer! We were lucky they fit us in at all without a reservation -- I'd definitely recommend calling ahead to make an appointment. Believe me, after a day in Arashiyama, your feet will thank you for it!

Before I start my trip I have been searching on Instagram what can I do and where should I go in Kyoto. Arashiyama is my top list and which leads me have to do something for myself as well in Arashiyama. And I found this Arashiyu foot spa on Instagram and I’m attracted and tell myself I must go! Staff are extremely friendly and the foot spa is awesome!!!! Definitely will go back again next year!

Stumbled upon this spa by chance. Off the main road, we found it as we had just visited the “cat shop” (a shop that sells cat design items).

They can do 4 pax at one time depending on the number of therapists available.

Two types of packages available — 30min and 50min. It includes a Japanese foot-bath, foot massage, a drink of your choice plus some sweets.

Cash or credit card payment accepted.

Hidden in a back alley is this small foot parlor. The staff super friendly and inviting. One is served some matcha and odervours while being served. Close to the bridge and the old station at Arashiyama

We found this small place while touring the Arashiyama area. It was a great way to relax a little bit after so much walking. We did the footbath and footmassage and both were great! The treatment included a drink and snacks. Great value and a great time!
