It is not an eternal fire only. The symbolism is so huge as grown up men have tears at eyes and bump goose skin.

This place is very impressive and the memory of the ones who died here is kept very well alive by the guard who is present. If you have the chance, wait for the change of the guards....

The Changing of the Guard happens 5 minutes before the hour. Take a position at the entrance to see the new guards marching down the steps a few minutes beforehand.

We went to the Kurgan as part of a private tour to fulfill a longheld wish to see for ourselves the land over which so much blood was spilt in 1942/43 and we were not disappointed. The Changing of the Guard by young officer cadets...More

This is really part of Manaev Kurgan, so you will inevitably see it when you climb the hill. Nevertheless it's very impressive particularly at the changing of the guards which is every full hour.

Try to get to see the changing of the guards. Very impressive and sombre. A moving tribute to those who fought and died here

Again there are multiple review items for one place. If you see the reviews for the eternal flame this is the room that it is in. Glorious and moving but trip advisor needs to combine for one place rather than split it.

As you're slowly approaching this place, everything is getting quieter. And all those names on the wall...you can barely say something there. I've been there twice: in the morning and at night. It's better to be there at night, when there are much less people.
