A small harmonious and proportional, and therefore very nice church on Taganka. It is very elegant, it was decorated with figured tiles of well-known master Simon Polubes. Tiles on two walls and four heads of the Church. The usual for Russian sacral architecture belt of decorative kokoshniks. Elegant trim on the windows.
The bell tower was built later and therefore differs in style (later post-Petrine Baroque) from the whole church.
In Soviet times, despite the persecution of believers, the church of the Assumption was not closed and managed to preserve not only the interior, but also the exterior. Maybe it came from the fact that the church was transferred to the Bulgarians – Bulgaria was then part of the Communist bloc.
