For the past six years we have been meaning to visit the Seward House Museum but work and family responsibilities kept interfering with plans; we finally made it and so glad we did. Our guide, Bonnie, was delightful and a font of knowledge that she...More

Our terrific guide provided a fascinating tour of this beautifully maintained mansion. We are lucky that Seward and his family took such care of his records and their possessions; a very interesting look at one of Abraham Lincoln's Cabinet members.

The Seward House is a vivid snapshot of a period in our history that we each heard about in school but never had a feel for. The house has been preserved in the time period that it housed a very important family. Seward is the...More

We have visited the Seward house twice before, enjoying our guided tours each time. With that in mind, we signed up for their recent Mourning or Macabre Victorian Death Rites evening candlelight tour. We were truly disappointed. The advertised description of the tour was not...More

First of all, thank you for your detailed feedback and we deeply regret that you did not enjoy the Victorian Death Rites tour. As you point out, we do not use open flames in a National Historic Landmark as that would not be best practices....More

In the interest of full-disclosure, we did not go on the tour. We were told the next tour was 30 minutes away, and the tour was 1:15 long…”because there’s a lot to listen to.” Uh uh….I have better things to do. We were the only...More

While vacationing in Skaneateles, NY, stopped in Auburn to visit the Seward House and Harriet Tubman home/museum. Both were interesting but the Seward home was a real surprise. There is a historical connection to both of these attractions so see both if you can!

Thanks for your feedback. Jeff Ludwig, Director of Education, does a wonderful interpretation of the Seward family and we are fortunate to have him on our team!

Well worth your time. I think the tour was about 45 minutes. The guide was very interesting and knowledgeable. I learned quite a bit and had fun while doing it! Very interesting man, Mr. Seward.
