Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the Cocoa Boutique on the way to the airport at the end of our trip to KK, not having planned to go there at all. Since we had checked out of our hotel and had some time to spare, my cousin(who lives in KK) suggested that we drop in there as it is close to the airport. I was a bit sceptical at first, not having much expectations of chocolate in Sabah, but was pleasantly surprised.
it's a small place but full of an unexpected and amazing variety of locally produced chocolates with really unusual flavours - durian chocolate and chocolate with chilli to name a couple.
You can taste the chocolates, to get an idea which to buy, and they surprisingly taste very nice - never expected local chocolate to taste so good. And the prices were reasonable too.
The best part is the chocolate decorating activity they have, that can keep kids occupied for a while, and they get to take away their personally decorated chocolates.
All in all, a very pleasant way to spend some time, perhaps on a rainy day when lying on the beach is is not an option!

Cocoa Boutique was a pleasant surprise to me and my family
Located near the airport, our driver took us here all of a sudden, telling us that we should try the chocolates and man, we're glad we did :)
Here, we were treated to a variety of local-made chocolates
You can taste samples of their best-sellers such as the tiramisu white chocolate, durian chocolate and even chili chocolate
The prices were rather reasonable and the taste? Well, I have to say, very good :)
This is a good place to stop by for chocolate cravings and for gifts to bring back home
The prices are not expensive, nor cheap either
Pay it a visit and you just might find something that will suit your taste buds :D
Their signature product here is the Tiramisu Chocolate :D

The Cocoa Boutique is truly a chocolate lover's fantasy land!
My boyfriend and I were already on the last leg of our trip (we were already on our way to the airport for our flight back home) when our cab driver offered to take us to the Cocoa Boutique. At first we were hesitant because we were already pressed for time, but when the the driver said that he will do it for free and that the boutique is really close to the airport, we happily agreed. How can two chocolate crazy adults say No to an offer like that?!
Needless to say, our last stop before going home became one of the highlights of our trip. The array of chocolates in that shop is just amazing, and the best part of it all,,,, FREE TASTE! They have everything. Chocolate with Chili, Chocolate with coffee, Chocolate with fresh fruit, Chocolate with preserved fruit, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate....truffles ...... the list is endless. Plus, different brands for each type of chocolate is also available, which of course allows you to better manage your purchases.
Prices are very reasonable! And when you taste the products, you know you will be getting your money's worth. Nevertheless, as I've mentioned, there is always a cheaper version of the chocolate of your choice, also being offered by the boutique. :)
The Cocoa Boutique is an attraction of Kota Kinabalu thati should not be missed. It will only take a 1-2 hrs of your time, (but if you are bringing your children there, it will be longer, of course), and in that span of time you can see the artistry and craftsmanship that they place on chocolate-making. Even before I went to KK, I already knew that Malaysia is quite a player when it comes to chocolate-making. I never thought though that the quality of their chocolates have already reached the point of being able to compare with the famous european chocolates.
Go there, even if you are not a chocolate fan.
if you are bringing kids, bring money!
If you are a chocolate lover, bring money!
Lastly... try the truffles with hazelnut!!!!

We had almost missed visiting this place when our taxi driver generously offered to drop take us to this place despite it being a detour for him. When we entered the process was explained and we set to buy the chocolates .. the chocolates we awfully sweet, and extremely overpriced to include the taxi Drivers and sales persons commissions. A mere 20gm of Tiramisu was priced at RM. 25. Only after seeing the bill and returning home and researching further about the brand, we realised we are fooled. The Marni brand chocolates are made in Klang, Malaysia and its quality and taste is no where compared to Beryl’s. Definitely don’t recommend this place. Esp. If the taxi driver offers you to take it there, do not get duped, he would be doing it only for his commission.

The tour driver recommended this place and we obliged. The store was not busy when we went. Our daughters love chocolates and bought some items after they have taken the free samples. They specifically liked the Checkers Cheese Tiramisu. However if you are in the area it is ok to visit but if out of route, no need to go just to buy chocolates. They can be purchased in groceries and supermarkets in KK

I expected more than just a retail outlet and was hoping for at least an insight into their manufacturing process. Instead it was just a sales outlet catering for tourists. The tour groups frequenting the place made it clear that the tour agencies had struck deals with the outlet owner. I never heard or seen most of the brands on display at the outlet and also found the prices around the same and even more expensive as other more established brands. As such I wasn't that motivated to purchase. The place is quite small and photography is forbidden. I went through it in 10 minutes.
You can see more details on their Facebook page. Google Maps identifies the location as KK Chocolate House.
Unless you're a real chocolate addict and/or also visited the Grand Illusions attraction nearby, I would give this place a miss.
