Fukuoka City Zoo is under reconstruction - the present view is depressing because animals are kept like in the beginning of the 20th century. The adjacent Botanical Garden is much nicer and may justify the visit to the Zoo. The self-service cabin lift is another...More

To be able to travel with a young child & have the ability to have others around, this is a place to do so. Throughout the park there are many places to set down & enjoy the gardens while having a break or a snack...More

Zoological Garden and Botanical Garden are located at the same place. If you buy an entrance ticket, you can visit both facilities. I like the rose garden very much. The greenhouse is beautiful, too.

My grandkids live in Fukuoka so we took a trip to the Zoo last week. First the parking is awful. We had to park and take a taxi to the Zoo. It would be best to bring your own food as it was not great....More

A nice place to visit but be warned that it is a far walk from the nearest subway station. We found ourselves hiking over a small hill/park to reach the zoo. I didn't mind the walk in the cool December air but can imagine it...More

The zoo has a well-thought out thematic walk, and even though the weather was hot, managed to see all the animals in a couple of hours.

The habitats are not bad but not up to the standards we are used to in the US. Many unique Asian animals. We did not see the whole zoo due to heat. Walking distance from subway, but long on top of walking at the zoo...More

Some friends and I were bored with nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon, so decided we'd check out the local zoo. The entrance fee was almost unbelievably cheap, only 600yen, which in hindsight should have been a hint at what to expect. I had...More

This Zoo has lots of animals in fairly good enclosures. It is a great place to relax and stroll at a nice easy slow pace. Also a great place to meet locals as they tend to be curious about how foreigners feel about their zoo....More

I haven't been back to this zoo in 6 years so it may be different by now, however knowing how most zoos in Japan are built and maintained, I doubt it offers much better living condition to the animals. Compared to other horrifying zoos in...More

You can use bus or subway. I recommend the bus since it'll drop you off right at the entrance. If you use the subway, you get off at Sakurazaka station and then you have a pretty good hike up the steep hill to the zoo. There... More
