Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

"TOKUSHIMA SKIP TICKET" is the set ticket of Nankai Railway(from Namba to Wakayamako)+Nankai Ferry(from Wakayama Port to Tokushima port).
The ticket's price is 2,200JPY!(Child 1,100JPY)
Very low-priced & comfortably!
On the train, you can enjoy scenery from the train window city, mountains, sea.
On the ferry, you can enjoy Petite cruise with the comfortable sea breeze.

The ferry runs between Wakayama and Tokushima; I have taen it several times and it has always been on time, clean and well- organized. There are large Tatami mat rooms for people to stretch out in during the cruise and there's no kitchen on board but lots of choices from the vending machines.

Travelling solo in Japan for a few days with an itinerary of 2-nights in Wakayama followed by 2-nights in Takamatsu, it seemed like a good idea to take the ferry crossing between Wakayama and Tokashima and avoid the otherwise circuitous route via Osaka, Kobe and Okayama.
I booked online from overseas and paid the Y2,000 ($20) fare for the 2hr 15 min crossing departing from Wakayama at 13:40. From the online timetable there appear to be 8 x crossings per day in each direction on this route, at approx. 3-hr intervals.
The route does not appear to be particularly busy and with typical Japanese efficiency the incoming vessel arrived on time and unloaded, cleaned and prepared the vessel then loaded the vehicles (ro-ro) and foot passengers and departed promptly, all within a 30-minute turnaround window.
When I boarded, I was impressed with the sheer variety of seating options available; aircraft style seating in the main salon, Japanese-style "washitsu" (remove shoes and sit-on-the-floor) areas, seating grouped around tables as well as a number of "workstations". There is a very pleasant 'Business Class' type lounge with more comfortable seating at the front of the accommodation which is available for the small supplement of Y500 ($5). There is also a sleeping/rest area with bunk beds and "washitsu" for the dedicated use of truck drivers. Personally, I made a bee-line for one of the workstations next to a window and plugged in my laptop, camera and phone and charged them during the crossing whilst I downloaded photographs from my camera to the laptop.
As well as a small snack bar in the seating area serving light meals there are plenty of vending machines dispensing soft drinks, coffee and beer and my particular favourite in Japan .... the ice cream vending machine! I would have actually tried the vending machine that dispensed ramen (noodles) but the instructions (in Japanese) were beyond me!
I spent a little time exploring the rest of the vessel and was interested to see that the power that I was consuming in charging my various appliances was actually coming from the array of solar panels covering a large part of the deck above ..... very eco-friendly!
In seemingly no time, it was time to disembark at Tokashima, from a most enjoyable and entertaining crossing. Overall, good value and efficient ferry service!
