We stumbled across this place along the lines of after visiting the nearby Todaiji Temple. It's free for foreigners (just have to show your passport). The three gardens are well kept and worth the 20 minute stroll. Definately worth the stop on your way through.

So peaceful, well taken care of and just beautiful. Clearly shows the beauty of the area, the wonderful care the people give to this place, and why so many visit it. You could find a spot to just yourself and hang out.
