Very impressive, the park is beautiful as well. We didn’t buy any crackers for the deer and still have fun with them.

And the 49 foot gilt bronze Great Buddha cast in 749 makes it the oldest & largest of its kind in the world.

We went to see the Great Buddha at Todaiji temple. There's a small fee to go in, but it's well worth it. The Buddha is massive and the grounds are kept beautifully. There are many deer outside the temple and you can buy a stack...More

Great temple, can only be seen in person to appreciate it. You probably won't when you are there but you will 2 months from visiting and be like 'that was pretty special.'

The Great Buddha (Daibutsu) of Nara is definitely something worth visiting when in the area. It’s size is remarkable as is the structure around it. Also, the park with its deer makes for a pleasant stroll. It is quite crowded, though.

The sheer size of the main temple is staggering, but equally impressive is the age of some of the artifacts. The main structure dates to 1709, parts of the Buddha statue date to the 1500s, but you'll see some pieces that actually date back more...More

So much to see and so very dear.... I mean deer! Be sure and buy some treats to feed them and notice how they will bow to you. Walk through and around the Buddha. On the backside and to the right, there is a small...More

The walk is not difficult but straight forward, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes with few photo stops on the way. If you want to take the public bus, there are bus stops in front of the train station and junction of road that... More
