Wonderful old temple at Gangoji on the Yamanobe no Michi trail. They serve somen noodles here. And there are two poetry monuments, both of which are profiled in "Precious Stones," a delightful book about the old trail and its poetry monuments. Highly recommended.

This beautiful and well preserved traditional house, located in the peaceful Nara-Machi area is well worth a visit. I particularly liked the little courtyard/garden in the middle of the building. Such great use of space here.
