In order to get to see all of the grounds and temple there is some walking involved which was not a problem for us. There is a bus but we chose not to take it up and did on the way back.

Beautiful, quiet place.Getting there by bus from Himeji Station, a rope-way, and a 20 minute walk, was easy enough to enjoy this place far from busy touristic places. The Last Samurai was filmed here.

This place is so peaceful and full of zen. The air are so fresh. Try not to go when it’s raining. Can’t really enjoy much when you’re wet.

From memory, waiting for the bus, the bus trip to the rope way, the rope way itself and then walking around the area - would have taken a good 2+ hours. I'd allow 3 - 4 hours to visit there. Do I think it was worth it... More
