I really enjoyed my snowy walk up the hill to see the park and get the view of the city. I was the only person there and the solitude was nice.

The Wakkanai park is situated high on the small hill. You can drive up the top of the park and get a bird-eye view of the city. There is snack shop where you can eat some local Wakkanai ice-cream or drink delicious Wakkanai cow milk.

... and a great camp area further below. If you got a tent or sleep in the car, this is a cheap (zero yen) place to spend the night. Had two toilet blocks. Highly recommended.

Take a rest here to calm down, can be windy most of the time. You can enjoy ocean view from here, and if lucky you may see cherry blossoms early/mid May - the last oppt to see in Japan
