It's about a 40 minute walk to the lookout tower from town. It's a pleasant stroll, a mix of trail and sidewalk. There are interesting monuments. I did not go up the lookout tower because it does not open until 9, however I did enjoy...More

I really enjoyed my snowy walk up the hill to see the park and get the view of the city. I was the only person there and the solitude was nice.

The Wakkanai park is situated high on the small hill. You can drive up the top of the park and get a bird-eye view of the city. There is snack shop where you can eat some local Wakkanai ice-cream or drink delicious Wakkanai cow milk.

... and a great camp area further below. If you got a tent or sleep in the car, this is a cheap (zero yen) place to spend the night. Had two toilet blocks. Highly recommended.
