The admission fee to the observatory is relatively expensive at 900 yen but well worth it for the superb view.

Goryoukaku Tower sits at the corner of Goryoukaku Park. The present 107 meters high observatory... read more

The views are the "standard tower views" of a big city except for the the exceptional fort just below the tower AND the cherry blossoms if the timing is right. The fort is really impressive form above--the layout is wonderful and it looks just like...More

We caught a tram to a stop close to this tower. You get wonderful views of the area, especially the star-shaped Fort. It is interesting to read about the history of the area. We had an enjoyable lunch on the mezzanine floor.

Goryoukaku Tower sits at the corner of Goryoukaku Park. The present 107 meters high observatory tower replaced the former 60 meters high tower in 2006. The admission fee to the observatory level about 90 meters high is relatively expensive at 900 yen but well worth...More

The first floor has some displays but it is mainly a gift shop. For the full effect you really have to go up the tower.

It admission ticket of 900 Yen was too expensive. The view was just so so. The-star shaped park has nothing interesting. Autumn foliage has not reached its peak. Regret going. The whole place of Goryokoku park is to be forgotten and can be skipped.

It offers a great view of the historical landmark. Must go and read about the history. Of course, it will offer a good view from above. The garden below was most relaxing. Typical of Japanese gardens. Highly recommended.

Nice view from the top. At the ground floor and second floor, there are coffee shops and snacks bars with acceptable prices and taste. From the top of tower you will see the star shape of the fort.

The best educational attraction in Hakodate must be the Goryokaku Tower. High up in the top of the city next to the castle, visitors have the chance to have the bird-eye view of the castle and beyond. The sight of the castle, the citadel, and...More
