Walk does have a lot of stairs going up and down. You can just do a short boardwalk if you don't feel too energetic. Vegetaion very nice and view over marshlands great.Did not see any wildlife though - except for hundreds of dragon flies.

Not a great deal to see and do inside but there are fantastic views over the marshland surrounding the building.

The boardwalk seems to disappear underfoot as it leads visitors away from the highway, across the former railway right-of-way and into a green "savannah" growing up through water, where the principal sound is the breeze whispering by your ears. Signage is instructive but not excessive,...More

The trail leads down one hill and up another. Along the way observation points offer chances to take in the surrounding marshes and meadows. There are plenty of bugs, insects, and birds. Take notice: there are no animals or birds held captive here, so no...More

This place is only 20 minutes drive from Kushiro airport. Perhaps, the handy detour you can do after arrival on the way to go to either Kushiro-city gourmet or Lake Akanko hotspur. There is a two footpath from this viewpoint. Shorter one (2.5km) is to...More

Extensive boardwalk meanders through a section of the marsh. Unusual marsh flowers were out and there were birds to watch as well

Don't visit too early in the Spring, as the area has not 'sprung' into Spring, and the Cranes are nowhere to be seen. You need to spend some time in the Observatory to benefit from the experience, otherwise, give it a miss.

Is not a tourist friendly attraction, you need transport and a long distance view camera to enjoy. Else its just a plain view, you can hear animals voice, maybe catch the species very far from you. Alternatively, you can walk through the path from one...More

Wish we give more time to explore this national park on the way to Shiretoko. We did a lovely walk, and nearby in farm land we saw Red Crested Cranes!

Certainly not late winter/early spring when I was there! I would assume mid Spring and into summer when there is plenty of food on the plains for them and their young. The boardwalk would be a very good walk around that time... More
