Spectacular scenery and some amazing photo opportunities, very relaxing and worth the 300 yen entry. Limited walkways and would imagine it can get pretty crowded at peak times.

After walking for 4KM from Kappa bridge, there is Myojin pond with its bridge. There is small hut restaurant in the area, good place for rest after long walk from Kappa bridge. You should take a walk on the right side of Kappa bridge to...More

This place was just magical and I don't know how to explain it. The pond, with plants growing out of it, looks like a Japanese garden. It is just beautiful. There were a fair number of tourists but the place felt tranquil and serene. I...More

This is a must-go attraction that you won't be able to imagine how spectacular it can be. The water is so clear that you can assume as a mirror. The vapour from the water make it become mysterious. The weather is usually good. However, it...More

As you approach the pond area, you will pass under a Tori gate. This tells you that you are entering a special area. In fact the pond is considered sacred, so stay out of the water---no soaking of tired feet in the crystal clear water....More

Came here in May and it was just beautiful. You need to pay to enter, but it is well worth it. We sat near the water and just watched nature. There were also some baby ducklings which were so very cute!

Myojin Pond is the goal of Kamikochi trail for many tourists. The pond belongs to a Shinto shrine, and therefore a contribution is required to enter the area. It is certainly worth to take a look.
