Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We made our own way to Side. One bus from Kiziligac to Manavgat (€1 each) and another from Manavgat to Side (€1 each).

When you get to Side bus station you can walk to the ruins - they’re literally right next to them and a short walk to the theatre but if you don’t like the heat, just watch the shuttle buses with cost 40cents each and film/ photograph the ruins as you go by!!

The theatre and museum are the only things you have to pay extra for ( if you want to go in). The theatre cost me 180TL (they don’t accept euro but you can pay on card). There are information boards in English to give you some insight into the history of it all. Very impressive and a good photo opportunity.

On foot, walk through the shopping area to the harbour and follow the sea along to the left to come to the Apollen Temple.

Again, all free to look around and take photos. Very impressive, especially when you see the size of the fallen pieces. Just how did they build these structures back then?!!

My children 16&11 were happy to take a couple of pics in Side, very happy to look in the shops but were also happy to get back to the hotel to cool off in the pool. I’m glad we went, to see a bit of history and that we made our own way there very easily. I would not have paid coach trip prices.

We took a Dolmus (for 1,50 euros) near our hotel and visited the old town and Marina in Side. Monumental Fountain is located in the ancient city, where you can walk freely. It dates back to 2nd century BC, so if you are interested in the past it’s worth to see it. Nice walk and magnificent views! In autumn it wasn’t overcrowded, so we enjoyed it.

I cannot believe the amount of free history to be seen in Side Antique town. The fountain ruins didn’t disappoint me and I was able to tick off my list of Side things to do

This and the other ruins around Side are great if you like this kind of thing. This area is free to walk around and the area beyond. Definitely worth exploring.
Kids loved it.

As with all historical sites, make sure you at least Google some quick historical facts and then visit with an open mind and a vivid imagination. Otherwise you'll just see a pile of rocks and a partially restored walls .

must go there by yourself (by bus or car) and dive into ancient times when this was a melting pot of cultures. Enough place to go out of theway of the mass of people in the buses.
