Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A small street with restaurants and shops selling various items, mostly in the higher end, which you may get cheap in other places. Just a few minutes walk.

Our hotel was on Princess street so we got to walk it and enjoy it many times. Many lovely stores with souvenirs and clothes. Old Jewish merchant house is very interesting as it has a connection corridor between two buildings.
Safe to walk even at night.
Retained the climate of old Kochi - Indian but with European touch.

One of the oldest streets in Kochi, Princess street is lined with European style houses. The facades are often 'Indianized', but still the ambience is rather distinct from other parts of town. Many shops and businesses like hotels and restaurants are geared to tourists. Price levels are higher as well, though by Western standards what is on offer is often still good value.
Not my favourite part of town, as travelling all the way to South India to visit a place closest in style to the West, is not what I came for. My Indian firends loved the place.

Princess street has nothing special besides some hotels and restaurants. Nice if you are hosted nearby, specially off season.

Situated near the Jawahar Park in Fort Kochi, Princess Street is one of best area of Cochin, where the Heritage has been preserved. It is for insistence of one of my friends of Kolkata, we visited this Street.
We found this is a very tourist-friendly area of Cochin, with lots of Internet Cafes, Restaurants and Gift Shops.
We purchased some gift-items for our friends in Kolkata, and found the prices are very much reasonable and comparable to the prices in other areas of Cochin.

Since I was here 4 years ago, the building in the photo has been painted. There were portraits of the original family members, a Jewish merchant family who owned the home. It’s a nice, small hotel now, but they have not kept the mikveh intact, as I had seen it.
The street is good for shopping. Nice clothing stores and you can buy a Barbie doll dressed in Indian clothing.
