We visited Aihole on the way to Badami from Hampi. This is a comparatively small site. But it has few temples in its complex. A small museum is also sep-up by Archeological Survey of India (ASI). The entire complex is maintained very well.

The Archaeological Museum at Aihole has a small collection of images, carvings etc collected from in and around the place. It may need only about 20 minutes to see the collections. The place has a large scale model of the Aihole and other smaller collections.

if Badami caves were the beginning of temple architecture with rock cut caves then Aihole is the next step in formulation of structural architecture of temples. The Durga temple with its spectacular stone carvings is a visual treat.
