- Marianne MEast Berne, New York42 contributionsNice and Not Overly CrowdedA nice boardwalk with great views along the ocean. There were small bathrooms to use and also some small shops and places to eat. We spent a few hours at the beach. It was $6 pp for a day pass and children 12 and under are free. The beach and boardwalk were not crowded. Just wish small beach tents were allowed on the beach.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 July 2024
- sanju_222323New Jersey16,967 contributionsAsbury Park has become an unlikely cultural hub on the Jersey Shore...Long known as a destination for music history buffs and architecture fans, Asbury Park has become an unlikely cultural hub on the Jersey Shore. Asbury Park's pristine shoreline offers a perfect setting to relax, read a book, or take a dip in the ocean. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent throughout the beach. Rental fees vary from $10-$15 each, depending on the day of the week Bored? then venture to the Boardwalk for a diverse culinary experience. Grab a mouthwatering burger from the famous The Speakeatery, a Korean taco from MOGO, or indulge in fresh seafood at Langosta Lounge. I would definitely suggest Mogo restaurant and it has another branch nearby on Cookman Avenue. No trip to the boardwalk is complete without seeing the circa 1920s Convention Hall Grand Arcade, located at 1300 Ocean Avenue. Inside Convention Hall, you’ll find the Paramount Theater, another historic Asbury Park landmark, as well as an assortment of cute gift shops, Asbury Park Roastery, an oyster bar, and the Anchor’s Bend, an oceanfront bar and grill. As the sun begins to set, head to one of the many live music venues that make Asbury Park a renowned music destination, and on the day I visited, it was planned too. One can enjoy the bike ride from Belmar, enjoying the scenic route north along Ocean Avenue through Avon, Bradley Beach, and Ocean Grove. Parking is a pain, good luck with finding parking spots on weekends.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 August 2024

We wanted a boardwalk that was pretty, had good restaurants, fun bars, and things for the teens to do. This boardwalk checked all the boxes, and we all loved it!!!! It is SUPER clean and well-maintained. Lots of really great restaurants that are all clean, fun decorations, good food etc. There are also some fun bars. The teens hit the arcade and there is also mini-golf. We all enjoyed beautiful morning walks on the boardwalk. The beaches are great - really well maintained and clean. This was the perfect boardwalk to choose for our family reunion. We loved it!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 August 2024

a family friendly area to walk on the boardwalk or set yourself up on the beach. The closer to the large convention like building the louder the crowd and music. Place is really nice and loads of food options for all.

My family and I were on a road trip and wanted to visit a beach. We were sent here from Pleasant point beach which is a half hour south and told it was a dog friendly beach. This was false. There was security monitoring every section of the beach making sure no animals stepped foot in the beach. We were really bummed that we had to drive another half hour to find a dog friendly beach. If you do have a dog or a pet do not bring them here. They will not be welcomed.

Ok, my film geek strikes again. Stopped in to visit Asbury Park, after visiting the Quick Stop, in Leonardo, to pay homage to Kevin Smith and the View Askew Universe. Asbury Park Boardwalk providing locations in Chasing Amy and Dogma. Although I came on a sub-zero February morning, and hardly anything was open, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The boardwalk is bookended by two glorious buildings; the Convention Center and old Carousel/Casino. Sadly both are looking a little forlorn, but hint at days of glory past.
I stopped in for brunch at Pop's Garage, which was lovely, great food and very welcoming

My wife, daughter and I visited the Asbury Park Boardwalk in August 2020. It was very crowded and not everybody was wearing a mask. To the north end is the Grand Arcade with shops. To the south end is a tunnel which leads to Ocean Grove. The Asbury Park Boardwalk has restaurants and shops. It is worth a visit.

Spent the day at the beach on Tuesday. The beach is beautiful but the biting sand flies left welts all over me and everyone I was with. Make sure you bring bug spray with you and reapply often.

This boardwalk is jam-packed with things to do: informal restaurants, touristy claptrap stores, and multiple opportunities to just people-watch. There's a children's playground at some point, and many of the walls boarding the boardwalk are colorfully painted. In nice weather, it gets pretty crowded. Definitely a fun way to spend part of a day.

Visited Asbury Park this year on the first part of a 1000 mile East Coast US road trip. Next to the famous Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall, the boardwalk is impressive with many food and drinks outlets along its considerable length running adjacent with the seafront. Nearby the famous Stone Pony Club is worth a visit.

The water was beautiful and so was some of the local scenery. Unfortunately however, lots of garbage like cigarette butts and food wrappers strewn amongst the sandy beach. On top of that the occasional land vehicles and advert airplanes made it hard to even hear the ocean! Don't think we will be returning sadly.

Can I order an Uber or Lyft from the Asbury Park train station to the closest hotels and Asbury Park Boardwalk?
I don’t want to drive!

Can I call for Uber or Lyft for the trip from the the train station to the Atlantic. City boardwalk and hotels! I don’t want to drive!
Written 20 July 2022
You can call Uber or Lyft but the ride from Asbury Park to Atlantic City is over 60 miles so it will be very expensive. Buses run from Asbury park to Atlantic city, but there are many stops so it takes over 2 hours.

Can you buy a season pass for Asbury Park if you are renting a house, but not a permanent resident of New Jersey? We are seniors and purchasing a seasonal pass at the senior rate of $20 each is more economical than purchasing daily passes. We can walk to the beach from our rental.

I'm trying to plan a beach trip for the day on March 20, 2021. My concern is finding public restrooms so early in the season and during Covid. Can anyone tell me if there will be any options for us near the boardwalk? Thanks!

As a resident of Ocean Grove where passes are sold out, I've heard the workers on the beach telling folks to go to Asbury for their passes. Have seen long lines though.

Springsteen fan thinking about planning a trip for a couple days around the holidays. Is anything open in winter?
Written 19 September 2019
The boardwalk is definitely deserted. You can find good food and shelter, but the festive atmosphere of summer will be absent. I was there for NJ Marathon, springtime, and it was deserted.
