Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bo'ao Jade Belt Beach is an 8.5 kilometre long beach darting out into the water. It is here where the Jiuqu, Longgun, and Wanquan rivers flow into the South China Sea.

Guinness world record for narrowest island beach between river and sea, according to tour guide.

V interesting indeed to see the contrast. Interesting geography. Really hot. Many stalls selling pineapples, sunhats. Many beach motorbikes. Don't get ripped off like us. Shld be rmb50 for 30min, 2 pple on it. Gd to try the bike to go around. Charged us 100. V serious touting esp the photographers who really irritated me alot.

Just on the beach off Boao we came across this sea food restaurant called Sea Story.
The decor, decking etc was all built from recycled fishing boats and littered around it were old boats put to rest.Unfortunately our schedule didn't allow for a meal but we stopped for a drink and took some photos. If I come back to Hainan I will definitely give this place a try.

I was not happy with this place at all. Having heard and read some good reports on Jade Belt beach I was hoping for a lot more. Access to the beach is via a short boat ride. The boats are in pretty bad shape and they are all layered with sand. The windows are dirty making any chance of a photo pointless. Once at the beach you are immediately flocked by people wanting to rent you ATV's or sell you coconuts. The sand is covered in rubbish and the ATV's constantly going back and forth completely ruin any nice and quiet experience you would normally have at a beach. Oh and I don't know if it had to do with the time i visited but there were literally hundreds of people crowded onto this small sand bar. There is no way I would ever consider returning here.

It was a sand bar covered with too many people, fruit stands, and mopeds. Very disappointing.

a short boat ride from asian forum building drops you off on this beach, which is filled with people selling fruit and trying to get you to take photos with sea turtles and a crocodile for money. the beach itself is rough and quite a lot of litter in places. nothing to see

It's just nothing but a boat ride. The beach separates the the river and the sea which makes 2 different colors of sands of beaches. The boat rides takes a few minutes only (I think 10 mins more or less). Spending money and time is not worth it there. Better choose somewhere else to make your trip more interesting.

Filled with hawkers and people exploiting and abusing Sea Turtles. You can hold one and take a photo but these animals are being abused and held captive until they die. This is blatantly illegal as they are a protected species and are endangered. Take a pass on this one.

You take a boat taxi there and are immediately set upon by the hawkers. The locals don't care that they are exploiting the turtles and even offered to let us "set it free" for $300. It would likely be caught again and re-sold. The tourists are ignorant of the issue and feed into the practice. Shameful.

We headed to the town of Bo'ao in the afternoon, not to visit the Boao Forum for Asia, but its Jade Belt Beach [玉帶灘]. The beach is where three rivers flow into the South China Sea, so it is where saltwater and fresh water meet. We took a 10-minute ferry ride to reach the beach. It was very windy so my mom had to hold her hair to keep it in place when I took her pictures. As in everywhere else in China, there were many vendors and some were peddling turtles and crocodiles, not to sell but for tourists to take pictures with at RMB5 pax. The beach was nice and the experience wasn't bad but the ferry boats were dingy. Everything was commercialized as in everywhere else in China. The skipper's assistant sold us playing cards on the ferry ride to the beach and skinned pineapples on the way back.

Before reaching the beach, there will a guide in the boat explaining the place and it's quite fun. This beach actually is not so bad with the sea water and fresh water meeting together at the beach. Was quite disgusted with the vendors holding the sea turtles under the hot sun touting for customers to take pictures with the turtles. It's was very sad to see the turtles handled that way. Wasn't turtles to be protected? I don't know about that. Overall experience without the vendors with the turtles is nice.. Got to see the wonder of the place.
