My visit to the Longgong Caves in Guizhou was a journey into an enchanting underground kingdom. The caves, a series of interconnected caverns and waterways, revealed a world of natural splendor. Stalactites and stalagmites sculpted over millennia adorned the chambers, creating a mystical atmosphere. The highlight was the serene underground lake, reflecting the cave's formations in its clear, still waters. Boating on this lake felt like gliding through a different realm. This mesmerizing excursion through the Longgong Caves was a vivid reminder of nature's hidden wonders and the magic beneath our feet.

I visited this place 20 years ago and found it completely different today. Water becomes dirtier and people less kind.

First of all, they made the place for making money but not a pleasant visit. The entry ticket is expensive in Chinese standard but after that you need to pay for each step you are taking - for taking a ridiculous artificially docorated lift, for going to the Tiger Cave.

The Dragon Palace is special as it is known as a water cave where you need to take a boat to visit. the boat is quite speedy, so you do not have time to admire the landscape. The Zhijin Cave is much better is you wish to visit a cave in the province which is known for the Kaster shape. If you visit Huangguo Tree Waterfalls, you could go the cave which is 20 KM far from the Waterfalls. Otherwise, it is not worth of a deliberate visit only for this.

A very nice day trip. We went by regular bus from Anshun which left us right at one of the main entrances. We did not need to pay any transport between sites as was mentioned by other reviews as everything was within walking distance. We also did not take the elevator, as it was an easy descant. Getting an student discount (which also foreign students get) it was not such an expensive trip overall (75Yuan although we skipped the cave with the salamander).
From where we started, we took a boat down a river from which we could access the first caves with buddist statues. Then we walked through a nice parc to the first boat ride through the main caves. Unfortunetly, we had to wait a while for the second boat ride (which also goes through the caves), but we also went on a national holiday, so it was to be expected. The caves were quite impressive, but the rides were rather short. Afterwards we descanded to a cave with a waterfall and reached the other entrance by following the river.
Overall I would have expected to spend more time in the main caves, but there is actuall plenty to see arround and everything is arranged rather nicely. I would definetly recommend it.

The scenery is very nice but the first part of the walk is very annoying. We can't get to hear the tour guide coz a bunch of pests keep on pestering us to sit their carriages 200RMB each pax..

We prefer to walk and take pictures but the annoying pests just don't respect our decisions and keep on following us.. Carry their carriages along with them. They swing their carriages without exercising caution.. Our heads almost got hit by them. Instead of they be careful.. We are required to exercise caution from the swinging carriages handles. And mind you beside you is cliffs already. It is a hill so it is kinda dangerous.. If unfortunately got hit by them, u might even roll downhill. The worst thing is there's not only 1 but 2.. haiz..

Then instead of allowing us to walk in peace.. They keep on negotiating with u for the whole first part of the walk.. "200RMB" "No? 150RMB" "No? 100RMB" "No? RMB80" They just keep on shouting the price into your face.. There are 4 of them shouting so our poor tour guide shout and cannot get message across to us..

There's nothing visitors can do seriously. I hope the management could chase them out of Longgong. But to all other travellers just exercise caution when u visit the place.

We went on a Monday afternoon, there were hardly any visitors. There was no line, no rush, plenty of room to take photos. This is a river tour through the cave by boat. The cave is lit up by different color lights to highlight the rock formation. Two boat rides are involved with a short walk in between. Great for visitors who prefer not to walk inside caves with steps.

I wish I could have stayed here longer! Get an early start! This is the most amazing place ever. Not only is the cave home to a magnificent waterfall, the grounds around the cave are to die for as well. Overgrown stairways, low hanging greenery. It is truly something out of a fairy tale. AND to make it all better, to go through the cave you must take a series of boats. And who doesn't want to boat through a cavern?
You must absolutely must get an early start because transportation back to Anshun and Hangguoshu stops around 5 pm if not somewhat earlier. From Hangguoshu (or the Jia Jun Hotel) you must take two buses. The first will be around 30¥ and the second not more than 20¥. It is easiest if you manage to write down the name of the cavern in Chinese. Then you can point and fellow bus drivers will guide you in the direction of the correct bus. A taxi will take you of course but it would be significantly more money. I took a bus from Hangguoshu to Anshun and then Anshun to Longgong. The second bus dropped me at the entrance to the cavern. Then you buy your ticket for 150¥, which if you make a day of it is totally worth it. Maybe bring a picnic, because the view is incredible. Even once you board the second bus from Anshun to Longgong you will be struck by the landscape; like something out of a dream.
I hope you found this helpful.

Having been to many caves, this is another cave. The place is highly commercialized and very rushed so you have little time to appreciate the beauty of the caves. It is like a tourist production line. The boat guide uses a green laser to point to interesting features within the cave for half a second and spits out its name but you couldn't see anything because it is all too fast. While the cave itself is impressive, this is probably my worst cave experience.

Unexpectedly it was a great visit!! The whole area is very big, you can walk 10 km if you want, over the mountain top, or you can take small boattrips through the mountain.During the walk there are different caves, beautiful lighted with different colours (sounds cheesey, bit is really nice). Also you pass a monastery with many different budha statues. Good combination of active walking in nature!

Visited the Longgong Caves with a friend who is a local. The caves are well lit up. You need to take boat rides in different parts of the cave. We had to walk back from the top of the hills. So it was a bit tiring. But worth the effort because of its beauty.

Beautiful boat ride inside the cave, no walking like other caves. Very well lighted, it was cool in the area even in July, highly recommended.
