Get there early. No matter what mode of transportation...

The entrance to the park lies just outside of town, through a busy neighborhood and then a bit of country road to the park entrance... The neighborhood is near a university campus, and you will go past a VERY busy bus depot. *Be aware that these bus drivers are aggressive. If you have rented a car, this is worth noting.* Being a commercial driver, I wasn't very intimidated... But if you're not familiar with aggressive inner city public transportation drivers, be extra cautious. You're also in for quite a show! :) We reached the park a little after it opened. We used nuestro mal español to talk to the gentleman working the gate. He gave us a brief idea of the way to approach the trails. This is good, because the trails, though not long, are a series of loops. It's easy to wind up in the same spot at a park like this, and kick yourself for wasting daylight. The beauty of the wildlife goes without saying... It's always the best part of a Chilean park in my mind, and that's even with the amazing geology and unmatchable views that are always popping out at you. I saw my first tarantulas in the wild here... They were under the roof of a small man-made open structure right by the trail hub. Some of the trails (it was April) were VERY slick... so make sure you've got good footwear for this one. The pump house was actually one of my favorite things. A huge water pump-house, surrounded by giant Mediterranean Cypress. I'm talking 8 feet wide at the base, and 150 ft tall. The kind of tree you have to hug. The only reason that I took off that last star is the "lookout". It was a bit of a disappointment. You get up on it, and you have a view... and it's beautiful... (i feel almost bad talking trash about it...) But the whole time you're hiking up the hill to the lookout, you hear and sense the ocean blowing up the other side of the hill you're on... The whole time, we were thinking we were hearing what would be another in a series of awesome views of the pacific... But when you get to the top, the view looks away from the sound. Upon further research on google maps, you will find out that with Concepcion being a lively (and I mean LIVELY. Chilean drivers are aggressive as is... but Concepcion was a WHOLE other level) urban center, and a home to many universities and young people, that there is a TON of development going on around Nonguen, and it's encroaching from all sides. It's a bitter pill, because you know you got the best view... even though it wasn't as great as all the other parks'. However, if you like wildlife and closeups over vistas, and HUGE trees.... This is a great spot for a half day exploration.

The reservation is very beautiful. It is close to the city and it is easy to get there. The entrance facilities are clean and the rangers are very friendly. The trails are interesting, of low and medium difficulty. You can see many birds, large spiders and insects, also huge trees and estuaries. Perfect to go for the day!

The core challenge is reaching the park.
You can take e.g. Bus No. 70 on Maipu street and go to the end of the bus route. This is easily done, but only takes you to 5 km before the park entrance.
We opted for hitchhiking, which worked out nicely both ways on a weekend.
During the week, this might be challenging.

The park is nice, but not exceptional, if you would have been to other locations.
We went up to the lookout, which is about 2 km from the park entrance, somewhat up the hill.
The trees around the lookout would need to be cleared (again) to give a full view.
in the last years they grew so that part of the view is now blocked.

On a Saturday, the park closed at 4:30 pm already, which we were not aware of before, so we had to hurry up, while it would have been nice to spend some more time there.

Abysmal attention of the collaborators did not let us enter, we had nothing signal and asked for wifi to buy tickets and said that “they were not authorized to give wifi” to turn around and withdraw, zero support to the tourist and abysmal attitude, the place is removed and passes through dangerous places.
