The Al Asalla Spa located at the Dubai Ladies Club is utterly luxurious. During my recent visit to Dubai, I needed pampering and what better way than to splurge for a “Pink Hammam by Shiffa” which sounded delicious! Nadia, a young Moroccan lady, took charge. After changing, I was taken to a larger room and made to lie down on a marble slab covered with a rubber mat. After being soaped thoroughly, I sat on a stool while the steam started. I was given a glass of cold water and a chilled washcloth to dab my eyes and head. After what seemed an eternity, the soap was washed off. My body was then scrubbed thoroughly with a special glove. After that was washed off, my hair was shampooed. Finally a rose mask was applied over my whole body and rose water soaked cotton pads were placed on my eyes. This was so relaxing that I fell asleep only to be woken up by Nadia who helped me wash the mask away. This lady did a wonderful job to make my skin feel as soft as silk. Wrapped in a terry cloth dressing gown with towel over my hair, I was taken to an area to unwind further. This quiet room was covered with cushions and also had magazines. Nadia brought me a beautiful tray with mint tea, assorted nuts and dates. I was told to stay here as long as I wished and to relax which I did. Even though there was another lady relaxing, this serene area was quiet as no cameras or phones are allowed. Though pricey, this spa was worth every penny. I plan on returning to try another treatment on my next visit. Note that there are only flip flops which wasn’t comfortable for me so I will bring my own next time. Also the glove used for the body scrub is an additional 20 aed but is given to take home. Ordering a taxi ahead of time is probably a good idea but then the time to relax may be hurried. Highly recommended!

The area
Neighbourhood: Jumeirah
Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighbourhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

A slice of heaven

I had a Moroccan Hammam done and the whole experience was one I'll never forget. The staff were warm and inviting and the quality of the service was well worth the money. I was running a little late due to my taxi so upcoming entering the spa I was quickly directed to the changing room so that I would not miss out on any of my time. I never felt rushed or cheated and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

I would definitely recommend this spa.

I went with a group of friends and we had booked the Traditional Arabic rasul (45min) and Swedish
Massage (1hr). Everyone was pleased with their treatment and would be back again.

Booked a hammam at Al Asalla spa for my cousins birthday present. Superb customer service, great price and value for money. Upon arrival was welcomed and greeted by very friendly staff. Was provided with all items, and escorted to the changing rooms and everything was explained as to what is included in our spa experience. The jacuzzi/spa was beautiful, gorgeous decor and ambience. The hammam therapist was extremely friendly, nice to talk to and very good at her job. The hammam ritual itself was bet relaxing and we loved it. Was very comfortable and relaxing. Every second was beyond enjoyment, and I would recommend to anyone to try this. The complimentary drinks and dates offered was lovely and the relaxing area was also very nice. I cannot wait to book again. Loved it !!!!

I loved this place and would certainly become a member if I lived here. The Dubai ladies club founded by one3 of sheik Mohammed's daughters with the Al Asalla Spa.I made an appointment in the hamman for a scrub and massage. Karima from Morocco gave me a thorough exfoliating scrub in the steam room with moroccan black soap. Divine. you feel so clean. I then relaxed in the arabesque lounges awaiting my massage. I had a massage with a Tunisian lady from djerba who gave me a massage with an amber ball. just wonderful, so relaxing. I then had a ginger tea with honey . Divine. Not cheap but worth it in the surroundings. Afterwards you can visit the dolls house hair salon, or go to the beach, but not advisable after exfoliating.

A serene destination
Jan 2014 • Solo
Wonderfully peaceful at this time of year, very helpful and attentive staff and very well appointed surroundings. The Spa itself offers a great range of treatments and is surrounded by the other excellent amenities of the Beach Club with ladies only pools, immaculate beach, shaded areas, and changing rooms featuring Elemis Sharp Shower gel, Aromatizing Shampoo & Conditioner plus Body Lotion. The ideal destination for a solo female traveller or on holiday with girlfriends !
