This is a super modern and fairly reliable network, but only three lines in service for an ever expanding city that requires at least double the number. It could reduce the horrible traffic jams and pollution.

The cabs in Dubai are expensive, the metro is really helpful, connects you to major places, avoids the traffic and is a lot cheaper. Go for a red ticket if you are a tourist.

I took the Metro to the central bus station so that I could make a day trip to Abu Dhabi, 2 hours away by bus. The Metro is exceptionally clean, reasonably-priced, and a wonderful way to travel!

I did not use gold class. I travelled with a child and we used normal class. Nothing dangerous. Everything OK.

You would need to take a taxi to the Metro station. So you may as well just take a taxi all the way to Port Rashid. Taxis are quite reasonably priced in Dubai.
