Pacaya Volcano Morning Tour from Antigua

If you’re planning to hike Pacaya Volcano, joining a guided tour is the safest and most fun way to do it. The climb flies by as your guide tells you about the ecosystem en route to an awesome viewpoint over lava fields, and then a picnic lunch is included to fuel your trip back down. Your guide is trained in first-aid and super knowledgeable about the area, providing insight you would likely miss on your own.

This was such a fun experience. I'm a pretty fit person, and the hike actually wasn't too bad, even with the elevation to factor in. The guides do a great job of pacing you, and they are very knowledgeable and informative about the volcano and the cities surrounding it. It was so cool to get to roast marshmallows on an active volcano, and then the food they provide for you wasn't half bad either! Overall, 5/5 stars from me.

I booked two Old Town Outfitters mountain bike experiences when I was in Antigua and was incredibly happy with my experience. The location is centrally located and was east to get to. The front office team was very responsive and provided clear communication. They worked with me to find the experience that would be most enjoyable for me. Both experiences provided equipment that felt newer and safe, I was actually a bit surprise when I saw how nice the bike was. I wanted to bike in and around Antigua. Old Town set me up on the Valley Ride one day and Las Tierras Altas “Lugo” on another day. My guide, Willy, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts about Guatemala and I walked away feeling like I had experienced Guatemalan Culture while having a biking adventure. Safety was a top priority for Willy and gave clear directions when riding and he consistently checked in to make sure everyone was feeling ok. In short, Willy is the man! The Valley Ride provided more cultural experiences in the various towns surrounding Antigua. We were able to learn the history of the area and stopped at hand crafted wine, chocolate, and textile stores. As we rode through the streets of Guatemala you were able to get a greater sense of day to day life. The Las Tierras Altas “Lugo” bike tour was a little farther out from Antigua, which I also loved. Here we got some amazing views of the Guatemalan landscape, volcanoes, and farmland. This was a nice change of pace from the more bustling riding experience around Antigua. All in all both tours were great and I am glad I did both because they really did offer different experiences. I would highly recommended booking through Old Town Outfitters and hope to do one of their overnight adventures the next time I get back to Guatemala.

We did the Biking, hiking and kayak tour from Antigua. Luis our guide was amazing, chill, and really took care of us. The biking from Antigua was mostly down-hill and beautiful. We stoped for lunch along the way that overlooked Lake Atitlan. We arrived to our hotel by boat on Lake Atitlan. Our hotel was amazing! Located on the cliffs, close to the water of Lake Atitlan. We kayaked and hiked the next day. Another amazing experience. The views are like no other! I strongly recommend this tour from Old Town Outfitters. I would do this tour again if I could!

Had a great time on a half day rock climbing trip with Old Town. Our guide, Oseas, was wonderful. He drove us an hour out to Lake Amatitlan where we climbed several of the local routes. The lake from the top of the climbs were stunning. Oseas was great to chat with and was a great guide as well in setting up and coaching us through the climbs. We are still relatively new at climbing outdoors so this was a great experience.
