Two colleagues and I booked the Whale Wachting and Dolphin Tour with Weynand. He gave us a good feeling about the trip from the start due to his personal and very informative way of communication. The tour was very well organized from the beginning. When we arrived at 07.45h the staff was already waiting for us and the boat was ready to leave. We realized that there was only one couple joining us. So we had almost a private boat! Quickly passing the canal was already an nice experience, but getting on the open water was truly amazing. Seeing the skyline of the city, the bridge of the Americas, and several Islands, while flying over the water due to the speed of the boat was just great! We got some granola bars and there was a variety of cold drinks. The boat is spacious and comfortable. We had perfect weather which got even better the further we got away from the city. When we arrived near Contadora we found the whales quite fast. Although they did not jump it was very impressive to see them coming up to the surface and see their big tails. We could hear them making their sound and we were allowed to go into the water with snorkels to hear the sound even better. The whole tour was so personal and we could decide ourselves what we wanted to do. We snorkeled a bit near an island and then we went to Contadora Island which is so beautiful! White sand, clear water, palm trees and BBQ for lunch, paradise! After lunch we headed back to Panama City. Unfortunately, we did not see any dolphins. However, to be honest, for me the whales did not make my trip. To us, this tour was perfect. Leaving the crowded city behind and exploring the beautiful nature that is so nearby in a luxurious and relaxing manner is something that I would recommend to anyone.

We booked our trip with Weynand who was an excellent host. We arrived at the harbour early and Weynand was there ready and waiting. The boat is immaculate and accommodated our group perfectly (10 of us including children). A nice, clean toilet available and plenty of ice cold drinks. Weynand was great with the kids - gave them plenty of opportunity to swim and snorkel. A very organised trip, Weynand knew exactly where to take us to see the whales. What I really liked was the respect he showed to the whales to their natural environment and this paid dividends as the whales then became curious and swam right up to the boat, underneath and out the other side - a truly amazing experience. We were so lucky to see half an hour of prolonged lobtailing which was as absolutely incredible experience. I will never forget this day. Thank you Weynand and William!!!!

When the folks at Panama Bahia Water Tours realized they only had us as clients this Sunday ( a very rare occurence ), they decided to give us first class treatment to Isla Pachuca and Isla Contadora on our first whale watching trip. They hovered over the whale watching area longer than anyone else to please our 2 kids ( 6 and 4 years old ) and ourselves. they found us a perfect hidden spot for lunch and took the time to follow a pod of dolphins on our way out. There are cheaper options ( like going on the ferry to contadora and then with a local smaller boat ). however, what we have seen is that not all boats are quite and fast enough to"follow the whale r

After being in Panama for a few days, we decided to look around for any whale watching tours in the area. We got advised to look at 'Panama Bahia Water Tours' because people from our hotel had been on a trip with them the day before. We went to the hotel staff and got our tour planned for the next day. The tour started at roughly 8:30 in the morning, we drove to the harbor where the captain and his crew member were already standing by (with a very impressive boat) to take everyone's luggage and passports (Don't forget these!!). After a friendly welcome we got on the boat and handed a life vest. Then boat was placed in the water, this is where the actual tour started. As soon as we were in the water, the captain handed over the steering wheel to the crew member and came to the front of boat where he started to explain certain things regarding the boat, the rules on the boat, the Panama Canal and the area surrounding it. He also made it very clear that Snacks and drinks were for free during the whole tour. As soon as we left the canal we could take off the life vests and we sailed for about 1.5 hours to 'The pearl Islands'. This was the place where we would search for whales. At first it took a while to find a whale, but suddenly we saw a group. We got closer up to the animals and one of them actually started giving a show for us! Rolling around, waving its tail and it made a very big jump. After making many pictures we let the whales go and sailed of to the Island for a lunch. After the lunch we went out to look for some more whales, sadly we didn't find any more at the time even though it didn't really matter since we sailed in to a group of dolphins (it must have been around a 100 at least) who were jumping around the boat and getting almost close enough to touch! After seeing all these incredible animals it was time to head home, we sailed back for about 1.5 hours, and just like during the whole trip, the captain would come to the front and chat with everyone. As soon as we came close to the Canal again everyone got handed Life vests. When we came back to the boat ramp, everyone got kindly instructed to sit in the back of the boat and distribute the weight. The captain sailed the boat on the trailer really well. When all our luggage was unloaded the taxi arrived and we got brought back to our hotel. The service was excellent, we had a great day!

Today I had a wonderful trip with Weynand (Captain) and William (Crew) and 2 couples which stayed at a hotel. I booked the ' Las Perlas Islands tour" This tour promises a trip to the Islands, snorkeling and passing by the big vessels which are waiting for The Canal. It feels like I got more then that. The day was very windy and the ocean a bit rough. Fortunately the boat is built for the ocean, very solid and cuts through the waves, instead of banging on every one of them. This made the trip very comfortable even considering the weather conditions. Of coarse some water got into the boat because of the wind, but this was not frequently and very refreshing. Another aspect that adds on to the feeling that 'it's about the journey too', is the information the captain gives about all kinds of "inside Panama" and facts. This way you get to know things about the country that aren't in the books. Furthermore W&W are perfect hosts. Drinks and snacks are included in the trip and frequently offered. What wasn't promised in the tour, but did pas our path was: whale spotting, being face to face with sea turtles, a lot of big and smaller colored fish and enjoying a stroll on the beautiful Contadora Island. I have to say that they really made an effort to make it all a good experience. They did this by pointing out good snorkeling sports, going off coarse to see the whales up close, etc. This way the fun didn't just start at the Islands but was an all day experience. The only thing is, that being on the water you should apply loads of sunscreen......
