As with nearly everything in Sarajevo these days, you have to expect themes and issues of war to be represented.
We went for "Intimacy" exhibition and it was quite that - intimate.
The number of pieces isn't overwhelming in any way, but the details and backstories of them was more than enough to keep our full attention for 1-2 hours.
The price of admission isn't much and the place isn't overcrowded, so there's a lot of quiet time to ponder.
Definitely worth a visit, especially if the weather isn't on your side.

Lovely gallery with a very friendly staff and with a nice overview of Bosnian art.
The building itself had also a nice atmosphere. A quiet place

The permanent exhibition is on the third floor, only a couple of rooms, arranged by themes when I visited (landscape, interior/exterior etc). I was the only visitor and suspect it doesn’t get much recognition - a shame.

The gallery is interested and nice but average. On third level we saw the permanent exhibitions of the local paintings with some really good paintings and on the second level was a graphic exhibition. Ground level we did not visit .
It is a shame that the culture and also this small gallery do not receive enough money from government and local community. Europe and some other nations helped with donations, but it would be good to support the culture here more
After the Bosnian war they receive considerably less funding due to the failure of the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to recognize the gallery as a national institution.[1] Entry fee is not much

A good collection of Bosnian impressionists, such as Gabrijel Jurkic, Beside that, there are some good envisaged exhibitions about the Bosnian war and vision of the artists about that war

There were two exhibits when I visited. Neither was that interesting to me. I was surprised it was so small and there was so little on display. I love Galleries but this one is not recommended, sorry.

Nice museum, just older. Exhibits are nice. But to allow smoking is just horrible--especially right now with tapestries on exhibit thanks to the British Council.

The gallery is nice but average. You can see permanent exhibitions of the local paintings. When we visit there were two topics. Intimacies of rooms and a local painter's work. They are about to have a grand opening of another painter that day. Some of the paintings were really exciting.

As an artist - and a tourist - I spend a lot of time visiting galleries and museums around the world. My visit to this gallery - housing an important collection of Bosnian art from last century and beyond was most disappointing. I dont think they were expecting any visitors today - I paid my minimal entry fee and was pointed to the stairs leading up to the gallery - they couldn't be bothered turning the lights on so the paintings were lit by poor light filtering in through overhead skylights and worst of all - in spite of 'no smoking' sign on her door, the gallery official was sitting in her office puffing away on a cigarette and filling the gallery with stinking smoke. I should have said something to her - but let it pass and retreated to the clean air outside. Interesting paintings though in an interesting city.
