An excellent cruise, overseen by an entertaining and friendly crew.
Prior to mentioning to much about the day cruise, it would be remiss not to mention the ease in which this adventure was booked from Australia. Sue made this process an absolute pleasure, and whilst living on Fiji time, she definately operates her business on Aussie Time. Thanks Sue it was a pleasure to deal with you.
Now to the cruise. We escaped to Fiji with our 7 and 11 year old Grandchildren. We sought a cruise where the alcohol did not readily flow (mind you l should have taken a cold one), and this was indeed the right one. We had an excellent day. From the moment we were picked up, to the time we were dropped back at the resort the entire day was professionally handled, albiet with Fiji charm.
Yes, the crew are indeed a little crazy. They know their roles and responsibilities extremely well, and not only crew the ship professionally, but entertain with enthusiam. I do not know how you do it day after day.
I would like to thank them for the care and attention they paid our Grand Children. They had a ball. Lily was so exhausted that she fell asleep on the trip back to Denarau. Whilst snorkelling their control was excellent, not only to my Grandchildren, but to all guests. It was indeed a highlight. Loved the fish, and thanks for the assistance with the underwater photos.
It was a great stop at the Island. Sadly it rained, however the Grandkids made friends and after lunch had an absolute 'ball' swimming with some of the kids staying on the island. We had to hurry them to get them back to the ship.
We had an excellent day, and would gladly return to do exactly the same adventure when next in Fiji. I know it is not always right to point out individuals, but thanks to Richard for that little extra attention towards the Grandkids. It was truly appreciated.
Lastly, we should all remember the Crazy Crew will never, not should they let the absolute truth get in the way of a good story.
Thanks guys. A great day.

This trip is totally worth it. The crew is a lot of fun super friendly and makes you enjoy every min of the sail. The best part in my opinion is that the boat only takes out around 20 people per trip so its a lot more intimate then some of the bigger boats. The trip goes out at around 930am and gets back to port about 5:30pm the first hour and 15mins is spent sailing to Malolo LaiLai Island and the sand bar near by. The water the day we went out was pretty calm so it made for a perfect opportunity to lay out on the deck of the boat and soak up some sun. The crew also serves up some fresh fruit and some great island cover tunes for the passengers on the way out. Once at the sand bar its time to jump in and snorkel the reefs. Unfortunately, the reefs themselves do have some damage because of all the people the resorts take out to the same spot. However, because of all the people there are tons and tons of beautiful fish because of the fish feeds.
After the hour Snorkel you then take a short 5min sail to the island for lunch. The restaurant is a bit of a walk from the dock about 10mins however, the location of the place is very nice (even with the construction that was going on when we went) Lunch is very good, fish, steak, chicken with rolls, slaw, potato salad and ice cream for dessert. Once you are finished with lunch you are able to spend around an hour to an hour and half on the island before getting back on the boat to head back to port. If you want to lay out bring your towel, if you want to snorkel ask the crew for a mask and fins before getting off the boat for lunch. I would say the only thing that could improve this trip is if you were able to spend another hour or so on the island, as it did feel a bit rushed.
Even so, if you want a great story to tell your friends about your travels to Fiji take the PJs Ultimate Sailing Experience.
The cost of the trip for us was around $100 dollars per person ($165 Fuji) which is pretty good when you consider it included transfers to and from the port from Sonaisali Resort which is about 35mins away, lunch, fresh fruit snacks, water and soda on the boat as well as a full day of sailing and snorkeling. Two pieces of advise though is if you are traveling from a distant resort see what the difference would be to get a taxi on your own rather then a transfer as the transfer buses tend to include a number of different company's passengers which means you might need to get up a lot earlier then you would think and when you get back to port you might be waiting for some of the other boats to return which could be up to an hour and half...plus the drivers aren't very good at giving you exact info (ie Fiji Time). If you don't mind the wait though there are a number of places to eat if you want to have dinner there. Finally if you want some wine of beer while on board, bring your own. There are a couple stores at port which are cheaper then the resorts (more expensive then the local markets) that have chilled sections for cold wine and beer. The PJ guys we really nice to us and let us put our bottle of wine on ice which means you get to drink want and not spend all your money while doing it.
As a note... I did have something to compare the Pj Sail too as I had taken the South Sea Twin Island Cruise the day before this trip . The south sea boats are nice and quick and they do get you to the islands pretty fast and the islands do have some great snorkeling, however, they shouldn't be advertised these trips as a cruise as they are really just am expensive ferry service to and from the islands that includes tranfer's and lunch just like PJ's. They also cost about 20% more at around $120.00 Dollars ($195 Fiji) and you are going to be on a boat with about 250 other people and depending on the Island you are going to you might have to stop a couple times before you get to where you were going to let people off at other islands along the way. And the biggest thing of all is that the crew (although nice) is no PJ's crew... ie no laughing , smiling, singing and just having a fun filled boat trip to the islands.
GO PJ's or GO HOME! ;)

From the moment we boarded our vessel we knew this was going to be an experience of a lifetime & we were not disappointed!!!!!!
The crazy "langa" crew ensured everyone had a gr8 day even taken exceptional care of our son when he got a little sea sick going to Plantation Island.
The music, singing & interaction with everyone onboard made our trip so fun filled & entertaining & the kids weren't bored either going to or coming back from the island.
First time snorkellers were extremely well catered for with plenty of guides available to assist. For those more advanced, they were not held back but were capably led by a lead guide for some amazing snorkeling.
The fish feeding was fantastic with spectacular colored fish coming from everywhere to get in on the feeding frenzy. The baby seahorses were cute & the manta ray had some pretty colours on him. The coral was pretty awesome too. An hour of snorkeling all seems to go too quickly but you soon realize how hungry your tummy is feeling once back onboard.
For those who didn't want to go snorkeling they could be dropped off on Plantation Island (where we were having our private buffet lunch) to wander, swim, laze in a hammock. . . . Enjoy the crystal blue water..
Buffet lunch was delicious followed by free time until it was time to return to the mainland
This was an outstandingly well organized day trip from start to finish & I would highly recommend it for all ages. Our kids were 14 & the crew were really gr8 with them. . . . Even teaching them a Fijian game something like "paper, scissors, rock".
Thanx guys for such a gr8 day. You certainly made our Fiji experience an amazing one. We look forward to seeing you all again next year. . . . Vinaka Vakalevu!!!!!!!!!

I booked a day boating and snorkeling trip through Marriott Activities which served as an intermediary connecting me to PJ’s. I received emailed pdf tickets and shared our resort location for pickup. I had asked over email for a pickup time but did not receive a response. Upon arrival in Fiji, I called the company to confirm our pickup details. Someone answered who claimed to have bad phone reception. They told me something about being closed and there wouldn’t be a tour for us. I tried to ask clarifying questions but they claimed poor reception and said they would message me on WhatsApp. I didn’t get a message from them so I reached out on WhatsApp- no response back. So as it ended up, we didn’t have a boating tour to join and I still can’t reach anyone at the company to discuss a refund. I would highly encourage anyone going to Fiji to avoid this company before they scam you out of money too. We scrambled and found an alternative with South Sea Cruises and they were wonderful!

Was in Nadi on a 2 night stop over. Spent our first day with the crew at PJ's and everything from the shuttle pickup to return to the hotel were fantastic. Arranged our day with Sue prior to leaving Australia and she was fantastic, as were the team on the day. Snorkelling was fantastic, lunch great and buffet style, but the highlight definitely was the live music by the crew as we sailed back to port.. I did a lot of research before selecting this tour and it still exceeded my expectations!

Thank you to Kelvin and the crew for a wonderful day out. My children aged 9 and 7 had a great day and both said it was the highlight of their Fijian holiday. My daughter was the only one who snorkelled and the crew took her out and made her feel safe. I recommend this cruise out to Plantation Island to anybody considering a day trip, as the trip in the boat is as much fun as the time on the island. Thank you. The Carter family.

I visited Fiji in May 2012 and wanted to snorkel. I took a half day trip with South Sea Cruises to South Sea Island which was a complete disaster ; very crowded boat, took ages to get onto the Island and equipped with snorkelling gear - probably just as well as the coral was all dead and my aquarium has more fish. The next day I tried PJ's and was very glad I did. A small boat with a great crew means a much more relaxed experience with time to get to know your fellow travellers. The snorkelling stop en route to Plantation Island was superb - pretty good colour in the coral and lots of fish. As several of us wanted to do more snorkelling, the crew made special arrangements for another session after lunch on the Island - above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks guys, a great day out.

Loved Pj's Sailing!! Guys were so friendly as the day went on. They sang.
you are allowed to bring your own drinks on board- just dont get drunk! remember you are on the ocean!
they provide some fruit for you and water and muffins =) always a plus for me!
Price is worth it- remember to compare the FJD to your dollar-
Went on the sail boat did have a motor so it was not so slow- went to a clear area, and had lots of fish. put our gear on (they provided) and jumped on the boat and started to snorkel! and we fed the fishes! and they come up to you pretty fast- you swim around for about 20-30mins. eventually swim back to the boat (so for kids or older people/who dont want to snorkel) the boat will drop you off at the island and the boat comes back and waits in the water for everyone that snorkels. then they take you back as well to the island where everyone meets up to eat lunch buffet and yes they have a full bar there just bring $$ for that.
you get some time on the island to relax then they take you back home.
fun! would do it again for sure.
see you next year!

We just returned from a snorkeling trip out with the crazy PJ crew and had the most fantastic time. Not only was the sailing out to the island a really relaxing way to start the trip, but all the perks were very nice (water, fresh fruit, buffet lunch in secluded area, snack on the way back, etc.). The snorkeling was amazing - loads of different fish of every color, seahorses, coral, starfish...all breathtaking. With a rainbow overhead (I kid you not, it was ridiculously perfect) on our return back to the port, the adorable crew serenaded the group on their acoustic guitars and singing.
They are incredibly genuine and ensured we had a lovely time. I highly recommend taking a trip with PJ's when in Nadi!

Yes those boys have amazing voices along with being very talented with the guitars. Pleased to hear you enjoyed the extra perks. The snorkelling with the rainbow above sounds amazing. The captain & crew are excellent at what they do, sailing, snorkelling, singing, and will do anything to make sure your day on the PJ is one to remember. And by your wonderful review and many others they are doing just that.

We had a wonderful day out with the PJs sailing and snorkeling tour. We were a bit apprehensive about taking our three year old on a full day cruise on a smaller boat, but the crew were absolutely wonderful and made sure he was comfortable the entire time. After a leisurely motor out to plantation island (whilst it is a sailing boat, you need at least 30 knots of wind, which probably wouldn't make for ideal beach conditions) we reached the sand bank and had a delightful snorkel with fish feeding. Definitely the best snorkeling we did whilst in Fiji. The guys allowed my husband and I to swap around whilst one of of us played in the shallows with our son. He loved going into the little dingy and bouncing over the waves. Lunch was quite nice at a little restaurant on the island. You then have a couple of hours to explore the island and have a swim - we chose to kayak (free with the tour). The trip back was again very leisurely, with lots of singing and laughter. A few of us just rested (my son included!) You might like take a book along for the ride back as it's pretty mellow at that stage. We also went on a south sea island cruise, which was wonderful, but this was a bit of a different experience with the sail/motor to the island a special part of the trip, rather than just a means to ends as it tends to be on large ferry style boats. The crew are really what makes this so special - they are unbelievably attentive and you feel so well look after. Would definitely do this trip again when we go back to Fiji.

Please kindly let us know which street or where exactly you are staying so we can advise you the nearest pick up point if you book a trip with us. just letting you know that we do pick up from the resorts near the Airport as well.
Hope this is clear enough.

Yes we do transfers from the Outrigger. The cost is $205.00 fj dollars from the Outrigger and this includes your transfers to and from, while sailing a fresh fruit platter, bottled water, soft drinks and entertainment by the crew who are very talented with the guitars. While on the Island the crew will take you on a guided snorkel followed by a buffet lunch, free time, coconut demo and turtle feeding.

How much is it? For family of 2 adults and 3 children. And is it suitable for an 18 month old?
Written 3 October 2015
Bula and good morning.
We offer a family rate of $510.00 fj dollars for 2 adults and 2 children, the third child would be $95.00 and infants up to 4 years of age are free. Yes it is suitable for an 18 month old baby, only a short sail, which gives you pleasant. Of time to enjoy Bounty Island, where there is lots of shade, great beach and our amazing crew will help with the baby.

Has anyone done a private charter through PJ's? If so what was your experiences and where did you go? We are a group of 10(3 smaller children) looking to hire 'Watchdog' for a day trip. Any help appreciated thanks 😁
Written 7 July 2015
The Watchdog is a great vessel for Island hopping, with lots of shade for everyone.
I would suggest you chose a day where the sea will be calm.
Another suggestion would be to go on a 4 hour tour, you will go past 3 Islands then stopping for some good safe snorkelling at Bounty Island and lunch. There is also a sandbar near Treasure Island which will be good for the kids and adults, but especially the kids to swim in the beautiful warm waters of Fiji prior to lunch. Depart at 9.30am arriving back at approx 2pm.
