We got there in July(winter time in Chile) and it was so nice. First of all the road to get there was spectacular, going up hill we saw country side, little stores were you can rent sky equipment, something to eat and friendly people. The place was organized, they have a cafeteria and a lift to get to the other side of the mountain.
A must visit!

Quite different from the typical ski resort, more beautiful than the ones I've been to in Argentina and Italy. The view is amazing! We can also easily spot rabbits below when you are on the lift going up. As we were there in September it was not crowded, it was perfect!

The Ski Center is located only 18 kms away from Pucon, although the facilities are not modern, you will have the unique opportunity to ski in an active volcano, with the most amazing views. You can also go there just to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the view in the Winter and Spring time

So sad to see that the owners do not take advantage of the potential that this ski resort has.
I am Chilean and have been coming to Pucon for over 25 years every summer.
I came in winter few times 15 years ago and it makes me sad to see that there has not been any investment or development since in the ski resort.
The second star is because the place itself is naturally magical!
I love this city, the views from the volcano are stunning (you can see several lakes and more volcanos).
The fact that Villarrica is an active volcano also adds excitement, but:
-The Road: it is so frustrating to see that the road to get there is in such bad condition, that so many cars get stuck and therefore you'll face a terrible traffic and delays. 4WD or Chains or please do not go up. (And you will still be stopped to wait for machines to fix something) Furthermore every time it snows (normal snow, not talking about blizzards or so), they start cleaning the road so late in the morning/noon that it is not even worth to get up early to avoid traffic. No excuses here, there should be a team working early at dawn, as it happens in all ski resorts worldwide and get it open before skiers are driving up.
- The Chairlifts: 🙈 if you see the website it says there are 7 and all open! (I checked the web site that same morning) Well, that's not true.
One is totally broken and not likely to open, the other has not open in years (not sure why, but a local mentioned that it is because of that run "is too dangerous" ) and a third one wasn't opened because it hasn't been groomed yet (3pm).
The other two that do work are the slowest chairlifts I have seen. Even with few people in the resort you still face a line at the bottom.
Not worthy the $36.000 pesos that I paid. (~60 dollars).
-Ski classes: my experience is only with kids classes. The one here not only is shorter and two times more expensive than what I have paid before in the US, but it was also frustrating. We took "group classes" for three 5 years old kids (they can take more than 3 children in a group class). Well, 20 minutes he spent taking one kid to the bathroom, then he did one run with each in the bunny hill and then he took 20 min coming back up to the cafe where adults where waiting and looking at the class. And to top the cake he says "too many kids, too complicated!".... That was a group class. Each family paid $22.000 pesos.
I also paid a private for my daughter who already skies and takes the chairlift, that went better as she said they came down few times.
I meant to take 2 classes in a raw each day. After being disappointed with the first class , I decided to not waste more money. They are loosing opportunities as I am sure more people desert.
The ski classes need to be professionalized. Skilled and motivated instructors, a program, levels, etc. They also need to get a phone number of the parents in case something happens during a class (such as taking a kid to the bathroom, an emergency, a crying kid, etc so the rest can keep learning and taking advantage of the class.
-The Cafe: basic. You need to take the first chairlift to get there and if you are only watching/waiting for people you still have to pay for the trip which is $10.000 pesos

Still, Pucón is an amazing city, climbing the volcano to the crater is a unique adventure, hiking, rafting, running trails, water sports in the lake, etc. It has everything to be one of the best ski resorts in South America if appropriate investments are done.

One of the worst ski centers in Chile in relation to price-quality, the chairlifts are so old, slow and bad, this center is one of the most expensive ones. The volcano and views does all the work there, that's why people still go there.

No doubt there is no such as skiing in an active volcano, the Pucon Ski Center offers you skiing with some of the most beautiful views. In if the centre is not very good as it is old and there are very few clues. There are different prices for seasons, in high season the ticket is worth twice that in low season, so I recommend you go in low season because there are even fewer people and do not have to make rows to get on the lifts because it is wasted enough time. The ski center has a cafeteria which is very cozy and they sell lunch and all kinds of meals in case you don't have one. The food in the cafeteria was a little expensive so I would recommend that you take your own food in a small backpack, the backpack you can leave in custody in case it bothers you. Even so it is a privilege to ski in Pucon since you have the center of Pucon to only 20 minutes and it is a volcano that is constately active.

Excellent snow in the winter, surrounded by forest, in a ludic environment. There is only one cafe in the region.

The Rucapillán volcano, is wonderful in itself, the slopes are very beautiful and good, however, the ski center, its organization, the administration is a real disgust, considering the level that should be expected of a center with the visibility it has in the area and Chile, is a very disorganized center, unbearable waiting levels to be able to access the slopes, hour and a half and 2 hours in the average to buy tickets, have the equipment, etc.
The instructors and staff in general are very good, they do their best to correct the serious operational shortcomings of the site, but they fail to cover up the mess that is the management of the site.
I give the 3 stars because they were very kind to my son who is TEA and very considerate, but as a ski center they do not deserve them
