Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everyone talks about the whalebone arch in Port Stanley. Great to see it for myself, take a photo with blue sky in the background....and not one tourist in the pic!! We sat a while here and reflected on our amazing day in Stanley & Volunteer Point (penguins).

Don't just visit the Whalebone Arch, understand the Arch. This was the signal that whalers would raise as they came into port to signify a safe return to those loved ones waiting ashore. So visit, reflect on those who have gone before us, and give thanks in the gardens next to the Cathedral. A real glimpse into history as well as the Falklands. A must visit. But even more importantly, a must understand.

The place has no tourist information centre. That as not nice. The locals are friendly. Toilets needed here.

Probably the best known landmark in Stanley. You can't miss it, as it is situated on the main road along the coast.

Walking around the town you can’t miss the memorial to the Whalers of the pass. A sad reminder to the near extinction of the whales in the Southern Oceans.

This is the main Church in Puerto Argentino (Stanley).
it is located in Ross street just in front of the bay.
When i visited Malvinas it was closed :-(
This town is beautiful. I spent 3 evening there (day trips during the day) and i believe you should spend more than that.
To get to Malvinas you need to travel with LAN either from Chile or from Rio Gallegos in ARG (only during Dec-Mar).
The flight is 1 a month on Saturday.
2nd Saturday from Rio Gallegos to Malvinas
3rd Saturday from Malvinas back to Rio Gallegos.
You need to bring cach with you (GBP or Dollar) since there are no Banks in the Islands nor a ATM. They do accept VIsa in some places.

It was lovely to see the Arch in real life having previously seen it many times on the TV programme Island Parish. It is a reminder of the long and varied history of the Islands.

The whalebone arch is quite unique and in a beautiful setting next to the church. It is an essential part of a walk through the lovely town of Stanley.

The arch is impressive, not just because it is unique, and a symbol of the Falklands and of Stanley, but because of the history and culture it represents. Take time to appreciate it.
