I was here the first time in 1988. Boy, this place has really changed. For better or worse is anyone’s guess. Today, Bugis offers cheap stuff from China, most likely at the same price point as 40 years ago

We enjoyed touring around this location but we only tour now in daylight hours; we got here on a recommendation from a relation who visited a year earlier; it has literally something for everybody. I could buy gold, exchange cash even buy Mars bars and snickers cheaper than home (and I did).

We got here via MRT and about a five minute walk. There were lots of eateries and coffee places.

We opted for a delightful cafe but there was lots of choices. It was another hot steamy day in a wonderful country. Recommend it.

Bugis Street is just opposite the Bugis Tram Station. It was almost crowded when we visited. There are dozens of shops selling various daily necessities, clothing, 3C products, and food. Some of the passages here are very crowded. It is narrow, and the goods displayed by the merchants are many and even a bit cluttered. Relatively speaking, the prices here are relatively cheap. If you have enough time, you can come from the Arabian District and wander around, and you may be able to find treasures.

Bugis is not just a street or a junction or a market. It is an institution!
There are dozens of small shops, hawkers stalls, more food courts and small restaurants than you can count and also access to small supermarkets such as ABC (on Queen St). If you are staying in Singapore please go to ABC first to get just about anything you may need at less than half the price of a Seven-11.

Absolutely loved Singapore. So clean, easy to get around on the MRT and everyone was friendly. We stayed at the Holiday Inn express at Clarke Quay which was very close to everything. Although the room was small, it was cleaned daily and we didn't spend a lot of time there.....too much to see and do in this city.
The Zoo, the Botanical gardens, Gardens by the Bay were all wonderful to see, especially at night and a visit to Raffles for a (very expensive) Gin Sling was a tick off the bucket list.
Overall a city I highly recommend for a holiday

Over 800 shops and stalls in different sizes come together to make the Bugis Street one of the best places for shopping in Singapore. After its renovation, the street is now all covered, which means that shoppers can have a good time without worrying about the scorching heat or the downpour; and choose from a range of clothes, accessories, footwear, electronic items, household goods, souvenirs, and other knick-knacks.

There is an entire range of clothes of the latest trend that the street has to offer, though one will have to make some effort to look for clothes that suit the taste. Shirts and t-shirts here start at just SGD 10, and one can easily get a good pair of jeans for around SGD 15. Matching accessories are also easily available, and sunglasses and hats start from as low as SGD 5. Bugis Street is also the perfect place to source some souvenirs and knick-knacks from. Most of the trinkets here, such as key rings, postcards, and stationery items are available for as cheap as SGD 1.

Great bustling part of Singapore. Awesome market at really cheap prices. Preferred this area over Chinatown for shopping. Some colourful mosques add to the cultural experience. So many shops, easy to get lost when you go up the escalators to other levels. Great place to visit and shop.

Touted as one of affordable places to shop in Singapore, it does live up to that expectation.
From clothes to accessories to food, everything is available under one roof. It may not be the best quality but for the price point it does the trick. You may want to check on a discount with shop owners and they will oblige should it suit them.
Connected through an overhead link is Bugis Junction this is where you have everything with an improvement in quality over Bugis street. Followed by Bugis+ which is home to most of the known brands. Around the intercontinental hotel you have all the luxury brands too.
You are spoilt for choice at this place.

Back here at Bugis Street after nearly 4 years. In the intervening years (probably during the pandemic), some repair work was done and the ground floor, at least the part where clothing is being sold is now air-conditioned.

As I said in my review a few years ago it is a different experience from the shopping centers. If you are able to find the drink and juice stall, I highly recommend the durian juice. The drink and juice stall has two outlets, with one outlet just near the crossing to Bugis Junction.

The place to go for bargain shopping, the bags and suitcases here are of great quality and reasonable prices. You can always find a bargain here. There may be 1 or 2 that will haggle you until you purchase but most shop owners are very respectful and will mostly be recommending things that may be of interest. By far one of the best places to go shopping on a budget.
