Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide Maggie was wonderful. I worked with Ski to set up 2 private tours: Kowloon and Real Hong Kong Tour. Both were excellent. I only wanted half-day tours, and both were perfect for us – 4 hours walking around Hong Kong in the heat and humidity was a lot, but Maggie was great! Very informative, a kind, caring person we enjoyed getting to know her, and her life in Hong Kong. Would book with this company again, truly wonderful!

Ivan was our guide this morning. He was born in Kowloon and knows the city, culture and history inside out. He met us at our hotel, explained the MTR to us and off we went to Central. Ivan engaged both my husband, three kids (aged 11, 8 and 5) and me with fascinating history about HK and other cultural topics such as feng shui and religious traditions. He was friendly, personable and completely present. We visited an outdoor market where the kids loved seeing meat and fish being sliced and diced fresh. We went to an old temple where the kids got to make a prayer with incense, we tried some delicious French toast and a hybrid iced coffee tea! We learnt quite a bit about the history of HK as a colony. Three hours was perfect for little legs, however if it’s older kids or adults in your party I’d recommend booking Ivan for longer. Even after three hours the tour left us all feeling more confident to navigate HK alone. Ivan left us with restaurant tips for the kids and other itinerary recommendations. A truly worthwhile private tour that I highly recommend.

Fabulous day with Ivan our tour guide- so knowledgeable, professional & genuine.
This tour was one of our top memories from a 3 week trip to China & Hong Kong.
Communication from their manager Ski was also great

Booking the tour and getting to the meeting place was super easy. They even would have picked me up from my hotel but as I know Hong Kong a bit I opted for a meeting place in the New Territories.
Maggie has been a wonderful tour guide with a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoyed learning so much about Hong Kong, past and present, and seeing placing which as a normal tourist you would seldom. Maggie was very flexible and always made sure that my personal interest were met.

We had such a great "behind the scenes" tour of local places in Central and Western Districts of HK. Maggie was just awesome! It was ridiculously hot, of course that was partly our fault visiting in mid-July! She answered all my questions honestly - something you can't get from a tour guide in Mainland China because they are so highly regulated, so this was a refreshing change! We learned so much about the culture in Hong Kong, which is my favorite. If you like learning about current culture and food, this is the tour for you! Honestly, I can only see so many temples in Asia before they all start looking the same. This tour was different! Maggie did take us in a Taoist Temple which was different from the Buddhist ones and also very interesting because she explained all the rituals in great detail. She took us to a couple of awesome food places (local, not touristy) to try Hong Kong French Toast, Egg Tart, and tea. Everything was excellent! We also loved touring the local food markets, with all the crazy and different food for sale (ie pig's head and cut up fish with the heart that was still beating!) She explained the herbalist doctors and what they do. We sort of booked this tour last minute, but it was my favorite thing we did in Hong Kong!

Thank you, Emily K. Yes, the weather was crazy that day, but both of you were certainly troopers. You've covered lots of ground with Maggie! Hong Kong is an amazing city. Whether you are a first-time visitor, frequent traveler, expats or even locals, there is always something exciting to be discovered. Hole-in-the-wall eateries frequent by locals, interesting stories about Hong Kong, backstreets and hidden gems... we love sharing all these insiders' knowledge during our walks. We can't say this enough, but we are very grateful for this chance to share with you our love for our city! P.S: Yes, we take last-minute bookings. For more information on our walking tours, please contact us directly via our main website. Hope to see you in Hong Kong soon!

Early June
we spent 8 days in Hong Kong. We arrived Friday night and I had booked a Big Foot Walking tour of Kowloon for the next day, so we could get an idea of how to get around HK from the start of our holiday. We met Ivan at our hotel at 12 noon and he spent the next 4 hours showing us a part of the world that he knows so well. He showed us how to get an Octopus card, then how to navigate the MTR rail system. That was so handy for the rest of our trip as we used it daily. Ivan was very patient and so informative about the area and history of Kowloon. We walked, caught trains and had a lovely local lunch. Wasn’t cheap, but money well spent and it made the rest of of stay so easy. Happy to recommend Ivan as not only was he very professional but he was a very nice young man and no questions were too stupid and nothing was too much trouble. Cheers.

My daughter and I had an 18 hour layover in Hong Kong en route to South Africa. I decided to hire a tour guide...and boy am I glad I did. Ivan gave us a great 4 hour tour of the city. It was perfect. I loved how he took us to a small, local restaurant...and guided us on what and how much to order. He catered his tour to what we wanted to do. He was very flexible. My daughter loved the outdoor escalator. I enjoyed the temple. He was great with translating Hong Kong prices into US dollars so we could better understand local real prices. He gave a very interesting tour. What could have been a very intimidating experience in a foreign city, turned out to be a very enjoyable and laid back time. I highly recommend Ivan! Thanks so much for a wonderful tour of beautiful Hong Kong!

Thank you, Vicki86001. The pleasure is ours, really. We treasure this opportunity to show you and your daughter around Hong Kong. Given the limited time that you have during your flight layover, we're more than happy to customise the tour itinerary according to your interests and ensure that you have maximised your time in Hong Kong. We hope that both of you had a great subsequent trip to South Africa. Do let us know if you manage to spot the big five, especially your daughter's favourite elephants! :) P.S.: Our Hong Kong Food Tour provides a personal gastronomic experience. With flexible food-stops and pace, you determine what, how much and how fast you eat. In between food-stops, we provide with you a taste of Hong Kong's history, culture and local life. Had a fantastic time exploring Hong Kong Island with Ivan on a 4 hour walking tour. I learned about the history of the city while walking through the busy streets with a stop at a serene Taoist temple along the way. I definitely discovered a whole new side to Hong Kong (Ivan also showed us some fantastic dining options, make sure you ask about them!). I would highly recommend this tour!

Thank you, Danwalmsley. At Big Foot Tour, we love to highlight the everyday life of a local, be it our unique culture, eateries where locals frequent, or simply our perspectives on what this country really means to us. We are appreciative of this opportunity to share with you the real Hong Kong, beyond the seemingly glam and glitter of Hong Kong. We look forward to welcome you back to Hong Kong one day!
