Stanley is very different to other parts of Hong Kong, or completely different from what you think about Hong Kong. Stanley, located at the southern of Hong Kong island, is much more relaxed with beaches, hills and coves. You will find the western...more

Stanley provides a contrast to the busy city. The bus journey to Stanley is interesting. However there is very little to do apart from visiting the now somewhat generic market.

Visited as part of a tour and it was a nice contrast to the city. Some areas that are more local in feel. Market quite cheap but the quality of items does vary quite a bit. Did not find the stalls pushy though.

Great market with a wide range of products, mainly tourist type products - art work, fabrics, clothing, etc. Excellent local restaurants from $ to $$$. Use local bus service from Central. Taxi fare approximately $AUD50.

Stanley has always been a little more laid back than the rest of the traditional tourist spot. Combining a still thriving if touristy market as well as new restaurants and the beaches. Still popular with local ex pats for a chill, the market has evolved...More

Very pleasant beach with nice views over a quiet bay and easy to get to by public transit (30-40 min from Wan Chai on mini bus). It also has a street market as well as a mall but these don't interfere with the nature. It's...More

Have been working in HK for over 3 years. By far , Stanley is my favourite place in HK to chill out. It is quite quiet over the weekdays and very very nice to be there. Thinking of living there

When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies
with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The
area widely known as Central is the major financial
hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up
to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open
late into the night and there just happens to be a
street party every weekend. Although everything seems
to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of
