We had a wonderful walk around the frozen lake. If we had had more time we would have done ice skating. Loads of food stalls and good busy bars with live music. Highly recommend

Its nestled next to a big lake and during the evenings, with all the neon lights, bars with live bands playing and the crowds it transforms into a hip bar street. There are numerous options, and I'd suggest take a walk along and then decide...More

Coming by in the day and night will present a different mood and look to houhai. In the day its peaceful, there are local folks walking their dogs, fishing but at night the place transforms into bustling bars and restaurants.

There's a street like this in every city in China. Seems to be full of music bars. Some cafes Nice lake for sunset views. If you come here have the lamb kebab. Excellent. Nice architecture but hugely commercialised. Pretty average place

The Houhai Bar Street is a great place to spend time in Beijing. It has some great bars and tea shops, most with live music, and great views of the lake. It is expensive by local standards but it really is a lovely place to...More

This was a very nice spot for visiting, having dinner and a few drinks after a day discovering Beijing. Very lively, lots of neon lights refecting on the lake, live chinese dances, restaurants, bars, boats... full of life and energy.

The houhai area is a bit touristic, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. This is especially true in a big city such as Beijing because things are close to each other here so you get to see a lot by just walking. Lots...More
