In July 2012 I went to Kenia for a 11-days safari with my daughter, to celebrate her 18 birthday . I'm very happy I've selected African Servalcat Safaris to organize the trip - everything was as promised. We had an excellent driver-guide William, a very knowledgeable person, with a lot of experience. We appreciated the pace in which we were going through the reservations - we could see a lot, quite often we were the first to spot an important animal (eg a leopard or lions), or some shy ones like kudus. We also watched a lot of birds, as William is an expert at spotting them from a long distance. We've seen the big five and much, much more. And we've never got as dusty as some other safari cars did :-)
We took lots of pictures (of course) - William was making sure we've got what we want.
We've been to Sweetwaters, Samburu, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo West (and Nairobi). All were great, but of all these we liked Masai Mara the least, mostly because of the crowds. If there was an interesting sight there would be 10 - 20 cars around it, while in other reservation there may be 1- 3.
We've been lodged in mostly in Sopa and Sarova lodges - good standard, attractive locations (Sarova are a little better, especially food).
Overall I'm recommending African Servalcat Safaris as a reliable tour operator and William as an excellent guide to African wildlife.

The entire trip was perfectly organized.
Our guide/driver Benson took us both and my six year old daughter everywhere safely. We had a great time exploring the country.
Benson is an amazing guide and driver, he was always cautious and responsible. We saw many other guides being less respectful or take risks.
Benson is extremely polite, helpful and very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor.
I treasure our long conversations during the transits and my daughter just loved him.
We visited Ol Pejeta, Samburu, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara and Amboseli and also went to the Sheldrick elephant orphanage
At the Sheldrick foundation I shedded a tear, those elephants just captured my heart as soon as they came running up.
Samburu and Masai Mara were breathtaking.
Amboseli, well, you never can see enough elephants, it’s just amazing.
I loved the accommodation and cuisine at Sweetwaters Tented Camp, the Sopa Lodges at Masai Mara and Samburu.
Our stay at Sopa Lodges and Sweetwaters were close to perfection, a dream.
The Serena Lodge at Amboseli was also good.
The Lake Naivasha country club has a beautiful garden but the room was in desperate need of maintenance and not all of the staff made me feel welcome. I would advise paying a bit more and staying in the Sopa Lodges.
I will definitely recommend Sylvester and all of African Servalcat Safaris services to any others wishing to visit Kenya.
The service was excellent from the first email. So from day one until the day we left we never had any complaints.
And indeed, the transit time wasn’t always estimated correctly, but hey, have you seen those roads ? So relax, the company is nice and the scenery beautiful, plus you get a free massage on those bumpy roads, so chill, lay back and enjoy, like we did, It ‘s all part of the most beautiful experience !
I hope to be able to visit again as I still have Tsavo and Tanzania on my list and I surely will ask Sylvester to organise my trip again.

Don't go near this company. He took my deposit; transferred it out of his account and then said payment had been "reversed". Yeah, reversed straight into his pocket!!
This guy, Sylvester is a crook!!!!!

This is a real scam company. I booked a safari and sent $1500 by bank transfer to their account. The guy, Sylvester Muthui, then said that the payment had arrived but had been "reversed". After extensive emails from this liar I established that there is no such thing as a reversal; and if my bank had taken the payment back it would be back in my account. It is NOT! It is quite clear that the payment arrived in his account and was then sent to another account - he probably has many accounts. So, do not deal with AFRICAN SERVALCAT SAFARIS; or SYLVESTER MUTHUI. Do NOT be fooled by all the friendly email conversations that I swallowed - He is a crook!!!

We are in Nairobi flying out this evening back to London after a 17 days tour through Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar. Right from our first email to Sylvester we felt very satisfied with his responded to our numerous questions which he answered all of them in right time. The Kenya and Tanzania guides were excellent and very knowledgeable about the animals, birds, geography and history of the countries and cultures of the natives. The accommodations we chose and of course with the help of Sylvester were very nice. Everything went smoothly right from start to the end of our trip and all I can say is THANK YOU SERVALCAT SAFARIS.
I will not hesitate to recommend you to anyone wishing to take a tour to your wonderful country. Hope to return soon..Africa Stole my heart !.
Mike and Kate.

My husband and I have just returned from our honeymoon safari and beach holiday in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar) that we booked through African Servalcat Safaris, a small agency based in Nairobi. I'm not going to lie: initially I had a lot of reservations about working with a small agency that had limited reviews. But from my very first contact on with Sylvester, the owner, he demonstrated nothing but professionalism, responsiveness, attentiveness, and honesty. He helped me create a custom tour package and, with each passing e-mail, made me more confident in my decision to go with them. When we stepped out of Kenya's airport, we were warmly greeted by him and our Kenyan driver/guide, Benson, and I knew I had made the right decision. They are both such friendly and genuinely caring people and truly embody the Kenyan hospitality that you've probably heard about.

The accommodations that were booked for us, ranging from luxury tents to sopa lodges, were all fantastic and unique in their own way. The food was good, and I was surprised by some of their creative, and often delicious, interpretations. We went for the wildlife, but the people there really resonated with us. Benson was such a fun guy, knowledgeable and full of life and love for nature. He also had a great photographic eye. Our driver guide in Tanzania, Zackayo, also had an immense knowledge of the land and could spot the slightest animal movement from miles away. Most of the staff members at our hotels were really nice and went above and beyond to help us (for example, at Ngorongoro Crater Sopa Lodge, they offered to try and fix broken sunglasses after watching us struggle - and were able to do it in 5 minutes, and with a butter knife!). We were on our own in Zanzibar, but our local contact there was really friendly and helpful as well.

Our guides helped us see an immense range of animals (such as The Big 5) and birds, eating and playing and sometimes doing crazy things…like a lion lounging in an acacia tree. It's truly amazing to be able to see these beautiful wild animals in their natural habitat, and it more than renewed our love and appreciation for nature.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the service(s) or the experience, and the fact that we supported such a wonderful local Kenyan agency is even better. We would love to return to East Africa, and when we do, we'll use African Servalcat Safaris again to help coordinate everything for us.

My husband and I just returned from a 2 week safari/beach holiday in Kenya with African Servalcat Safaris. I would like to provide a snapshot of how truly remarkable our experience was and why I highly recommend this tour operator. We have travelled across the globe to Europe, Central America, South America, Asia, and the Middle East but we have never been treated with such excellent customer service and attention to detail in all of our experiences abroad.

Sylvester is the owner of the company and is very responsive to inquiries. He will answer your emails morning and night and will do his best to create an itinerary that will exceed your expectations. The day before we were to leave for our trip, a terrorist attack occurred at a shopping mall in Nairobi and my husband and I felt compelled to cancel our trip. Sylvester was extremely kind and took care of cancelling our arrangements and rebooking them for late October. Although some of the accommodations were not cooperating with crediting us for a future booking, Sylvester was persistent and succeeded in giving us credit at all locations including our domestic flight to Mombasa! He emailed me everyday to provide updates.

Sylvester is an honest family man with Christian values. When we told him that we were bringing 150 pounds of school supplies, he provided a vehicle for us which would accommodate our storage needs. Even more wonderful was when the school asked for textbooks and Sylvester agreed to purchase hundreds for us in Nairobi and carry them to his office up flights of stairs. He had to do this 4 times due to our initial cancellation and he told me not to worry and that he was happy to help us! There were so many boxes of books that totaled a couple of hundred pounds.

Sylvester and our guide Benson picked us up at the airport right on time in a very nice land cruiser vehicle. They were very warm and friendly and told us to feel at home. Benson was a absolute professional who was so attentive to our needs everyday. His passion for wildlife and expert knowledge of the game reserves was incredible! I cannot believe all of the animals he pointed out to us which I could not even see with my naked eye. He knew the name of every bird, tree, and animal and would explain to us information equivalent to an encyclopedia in the most interesting and humorous way. We saw every animal and the reserves were fantastic (Masai Mara, Samburu, Shaba, Lake Nakuru). Benson knew I loved sunsets so he would stop at random locations on our way back to the lodge. He would say, "Look Mia this is for you turn around." I would look and see that Benson had set up the perfect picture of a sun setting behind an Acacia tree. He kept telling my husband and I that he wanted to make us happy and show us the Africa that he loves so much. While driving between game reserves, Benson would teach us Swahili :-)

During our trip to the school, Benson took video of the entire morning. He recorded hours of video and carried the many boxes of supplies and books to the school office. By the second day, Benson was not our guide he was our friend. By the end of the safari, he was family and I actually shed tears when we had to say goodbye!

Before we left, I was disappointed that we had missed the Wildebeest migration due to cancelling our original trip planned in late August. Benson had a positive attitude and said it was the best time to do a safari because there would be no crowds or minivans. He was right! For example, Benson had ordered a packed lunch for us on the Mara River and we had a picnic on the grass overlooking the Hippos and Crocodiles in the river below. He believed this would definitely make up for us missing the migration across the river and it did!!

Thank you to African Servalcat Safaris for your professionalism and high level of service. Thank you more for your friendship.

In October 2012 we went on the Grand Gazelle Safari. Sylvester from Servalcat Safaris handled our reservation with great professionalism. Every little detail was taken care of. Our guide Benson has become like family to us. He is an excellent driver and the best of the best guides. He has the ability to adapt to the needs of his clients and did his utmost to make our Africa Experience something treasured and unforgettable. The lodges and accommodation were superb and we were lucky to experience it as part of the 'Africa' feeling. The people with whom we interacted at the lodges were friendly and went out of their way to be of help and make our stay pleasant. We do recommend Servalcat Safaris to any one who want to experience and enjoy Africa. Sylvester and Benson.... we salute you! Olga & Martie

I just came back from my second visit to Kenya and this time I choose African Servalcat Safaris again to be my touroperator. As always everything the entire trip was organized well so that I really could enjoy my trip. My guide/driver Justus took me everywhere safely (white woman travelling alone) and was knowledgeable of all the places we drove through and saw.
I visited Sweetwaters tented camp and Ol Pejeta, went to the Nairobi National Park and Sheldrick elephant orphanage as well as worked for a local orphanage, Mama Tunza Childrens Home.
I could count on Sylvester (owner) assistance whenever needed as well!
I hope to be able to visit again in the near future and will definitely book with them again. Next time going across the border with Tanzania!
