About
Nahla & Ahmed founded Egypt Traveluxe the same time as Uprising in Egypt in 2011. As tour guides Nahla & Ahmed were frustrated by prescribed vanilla group tours, tourism tricks, hidden costs and detours. Nahla & Ahmed decided to start something they would be proud to put their name on, something that showed people the best of Egypt. Egypt Traveluxe founders and directors Nahla & Ahmed were a guides but were frustrated that travelers only scratched the surface of Egypt. Nahla & Ahmed knew there was so much to see and experience outside the group tour experience. Back then all tours were all fixed, and travelers had zero flexibility to create a trip around their interests. Nahla & Ahmed wanted to get people off the beaten track, of the guidebook, out of sterile parks, official attractions, and beyond the typical tour routes. They wanted to remove detours to touristy stops , and instead take people to try some authentic food at the kind of restaurants his local and friends loved ...

Yomna is by far the best guide I have ever used in 40 years of traveling in the Middle East. Over the 4 years we lived in Egypt Yomna guided us all over this amazing country. She has amazing experience, knowledge and contacts which meant access to sites where other tour guides couldn’t enter. She is highly knowledgeable in Egyptology, Islamic Art and architecture and as well as Coptic art and culture. I used her over the 4 years not just for my own travel but for VIP business colleagues who visited Egypt .
Yomna is has a bubbly fun personality and is great to be with.

My trips with Yomna included a Dhabiya ( boat) 5 day trip on the Nile, sights of Luxor and Aswan, saqqara, the pyramids, Memphis, as well as Coptic and Islamic Cairo.

I strongly recommend Yomna for an Egyptian experience you won’t regret

Since retiring, I have literally traveled the world and experienced many, many guides along the way. By far and away one of the best guides I have encountered was Yomna Salama for our Nile River cruise and Cairo experience. She has a wonderfully magnetic personality that is only accentuated by her astounding knowledge of the antiquities, temples, mosques, and overall history of Egypt. Her love and enthusiasm of sharing all things Egypt is palpable and contagious. She said from the outset that she welcomed all manner of questions and answered them openly and honestly, and some of those questions were rather sensitive in nature. Handled them flawlessly, and in so doing gave us all a better and greater understanding cultural norms and beliefs. Absolutely loved her honesty and openness. I wasn't keen on this trip to Egypt due to a prior negative experience, but this trip was a first for one of my travel companions, so I and our other two travel companions tagged along as it was the first leg of a longer trip. We have zero regrets doing the trip for its scope and depth alone (if only I could remember all I heard!), and thanks to having Yomna as our group's guide, I have a far better understanding and appreciation of ancient Egypt. She was the icing on the cake. Thank you, Yomna!

We have traveled to Egypt 3-4 times in the past 10 years, and have loved having Yomna Salama as our tour guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable, has excellent English and a delightful personality. We have loved being with her, and feel she is one of the best guides we've had in the world. We recommend her highly and without any reservation to our friends.

My trip to Egypt was made wonderful by this knowledgeable guide. She was so knowledgeable in Egyptology, art and Islam. I learned so much more than I anticipated. Besides the usual sites, She also took us to unusual places such as the Geyer Anderson Museum, a mosque and the bazaar. She truly made our trip to Egypt unforgettable

Had a blast, and learned alot from one of the best tour guides out there. This tour was very well explained and detailed. I would love to come back another time and get to know alot more about Egypt and its history. After all Egypt is where it all began.

The tour was very well organized. The guide was very good and the restaurant we ate at in Luxor was excellent. I highly recommend this tour. Great value for the money you spent.

We booked a day tour from Marsa Alam to Luxor for 8 people. We were promised a luxurious transport, professional guide and water.
The transport was a horrendous van, without any safety measure, not even safety belts. We were crammed in the really old and small sits, the car suspension was nonexistent and our backs suffered for hours.
The guide had no official ID, no Id at all. He was supposedly an archeologist but he made up a lot of things, you can just look up on wikipedia and know he was just making things up. Also he was quite rude with the women of my group and mentioned plenty of times that women are not fit to rule (regarding Nefertiti temple) and they should not try. We were baffled.
We had to ask for water a ton of times, until finally we got a couple of big water bottles for the 8 of us. We had to insist until the driver (that spoke no English) stopped us at a shop so we could by water ourselves.

It was an overall bad experience. When I asked the driver about the luxurious vehicle that was sell to us, he was not able to speak English and put me at the phone with someone that spoke bad English too. They say our Lux car was waiting for us in Luxor... that was a lie.

Hello Sir /Madam we are as Egyptraveluxe Tours team fell so sorry you didn't enjoy your travel experience with us , and feel more sorry that the bus we offered to the trip you find it a horrendous van, without any safety measure first of all dear client that was a bus and not a van in Egypt buses there is no seat belts "sorry for that" but it is not for this only one that is general ,the bus was air conditioned and its seats it is the standard seats for these tourists buses which is classified as deluxe buses , sorry if the driver didn't get your question correctly when you asked about the deluxe bus and explained to you clearly that this bus is one of them as drivers in Egypt don't speak English and when he said in Luxor for sure he do mean something else, but if you asked our representative who joined you and who speaks good English or if you asked your Spanish speaking tour guide who speak your language I am sure you would receive the right answer, there was water in the bus ice-box during the tour but you consumed all of them and the day tour is too short so sorry if they have to stop as late to buy more water , The guide is a professional guide with a license as guides can never work in Egypt without it and WE can send you a photocopy of it via email , but still sorry if you didn't like his way of guiding or showing around and we will consider that in the future , the most important and what we are really concerned about that we didn't lie about the bus but so sorry it didn't meet your expectations , we could get your small group a van but we thought the bus will be more convenient and much space for your group ,and we are doing this business for 20 years and this is first time to receive a bad note about the bus , sorry one more time and we will consider this note for the near future and will do our best to keep your bad note about the bus as our last bad note in our services , Best Regards

We visited Luxor in October 2011 and booked Nahla ElKady of Egyptraveluxe to take us to see the Valley of the Kings, Medinat Habu, Denderah and the Tombs of the Nobles and Artisans. All in all we arranged 4 half day trips. Nahla is an experienced Egyptologist with a very good level of English, far superior to any of the other guides we came accross. She arrived every day with her own min bus and driver to take us to the monuments. Having tried other guides before, we have to recommend her for her in depth knowledge of the monuments and the culture of ancient Egypt. Her prices were very fair with no hidden extras and the price charged was per tour not per person which worked out much better value for us than any of the other offers. She is very flexible on times and dates and will allow you to plan your day rather than imposing a schedule.

I like to create my own itineraries and not be part of large groups. This way I can control my holiday experience and pick my own tour guide, ensuring they are suitable. It also allows me to regulate the time I spend at locations, if I want to stay longer in one place or leave earlier in another I am not restricted like you are with a group. I booked Ahmed Sabry for two days in Luxor. One day on the West Bank looking at the Valley of the Kings, The Nobles and Workers Tombs. On the second day we travelled to Abydos and Mederas, which are two great temples out of Luxor. Ahmed was very knowledgeable, he takes the time to explain scenes and is patient to repeat important information to ensure you understand. Ahmed has a great passion for Egyptian history and I would recommend him if you’re looking for a great guide. This was my third trip to Egypt and Ahmed's knowledge was as good if not better than any other guide I've had in the past. I thoroughly enjoyed both days in Luxor. This is an incredible area of Egypt with so much history in amazing condition. On both days we had our own driver and car. I felt safe throughout Egypt and had no security issues.

I booked a five-day trip to Luxor with Nahla via the Tours by Locals website. I am so glad I came and stayed in Luxor as I was able to explore the area with Nahla's help and expertise.

There is so much to see in the area that I can't pick just one highlight - so I will give a brief summary of the places visited and seen. It is worth noting that you could do this trip in fewer than five days and Nahla could easily sort that out for you - it wouldn't be too rushed, either.

In addition to the tour, Nahla arranged airport transfers, a felucca ride and a balloon ride (fantastic!) - a sound & light show as well as a horse & buggy ride were also offered but I declined - but indicates that Nahla can pretty much arrange anything you want to see and do.

Day One: a visit to the Valley of the Kings (note: no photography allowed - daft but they're strict and it isn't the end of the world) - I opted to visit the Tomb of Ramses 6th, which is only an extra LE80 (about £3.50 / $4.30 at time of writing) - well worth it. I didn't opt for Tutankhamen's tomb as the treasures found there are on display at the excellent Egyptian Museum in Cairo and there's a replica at Howard Carter's house. After that we visited the Temple of Queen Hatshesput and then the Colossi of Memnon.

Day Two started with the balloon ride - pick-up at 05.15 and back to the hotel by about 08.30 - it was a great experience - very enjoyable. Perfect weather and a perfect landing! After that it was a visit to the astonishing Temple at Karnak complex followed by the Luxor Temple.

Day Three and we started with the Habu Temple (or Medinat Habu), which I'd flown over in the balloon ride and then on to the Ramesseum - where Nahla told me about Shelley's poem Ozymandias - which to my shame I hadn't heard of! We finished off with the Tombs of the Nobles.

Day Four and we drove out to the city of Qena (about 60km from Luxor) and visited the nearby Temple of Dendara - another astonishing temple complex.

Day Five and we went to the Valley of the Queens. A ticket to visit the restored tomb of Nefertari cost LE1,000 (around £43.50 / $54 at time of writing) - I thought it was worth it to get a real idea of how incredibly ornate and beautifully decorated these tombs were. Nearby is the Deir el-Medina, where the remains of the artisans houses can be seen as well as a terrific temple of Hathor - with some wonderful images of gods, goddesses and hieroglyphics - very colourful. We finished at Howard Carter's house & museum (complete with the replica of Tutankhamen's tomb).

As I mentioned, Nahla organised and arranged the trip - it was extremely good value especially as the cost of the balloon and felucca rides were included. Everything worked out well and Nahla was able to explain all the history and stories - bringing everything to life and making it enjoyable as well as fascinating. Some of the sights here are just mesmerising.

If you are planning to spend a few days in Luxor then I would certainly recommend Nahla - who will show you the wonders of this area - sort out any extra trips and activities you want to do - and make sure you have a fantastic and truly memorable time.
