Great museum that tells fascinating stories
Feb 2020
This museum, tucked away in a historic building on Muizz street, is a must see. It has a brilliant selection of objects with fascinating text about textiles, their manufacture, use, and importance, from all periods of Egyptian history. The museum is well organized and curated. Very impressive. A very good catalog with photos and text of most if not all the objects is available for LE 180 (about $12), which is a real bargain.

A hidden gem
Jan 2020 • Friends
I went to the museum by coincidence with some friends and was truly astonished by the valuable display of textiles from the Ancient Egyptian era to the modern Ismalic era. The display was great and the explanation provided to us by one of the senior employees of the museum was very informative. I recommend anyone interested in ancient cultures or art to visit this museum.

Just Another Amazing Gem In Cairo
May 2019 • Solo
it's really nice small yet amazing and informative museum hidden in old Islamic Cairo , it tells the history of this industry and art in Egypt. it has some unique sample dating back to ancient Egypt . it's located in Al-Moez Ledin Allah st. in Khan el Khalili. the building itself is historic. it's a Turkish or Ottoman Sabil where they used to distribute fresh portable water for free. about the accessibility by wheel chair . they have left for the 2nd floor and since there are few steps to the halls, the museum guards will carry the wheel chair and assist anyone in need

A true gem
Apr 2019 • Couples
This museum is not featured in many tours but well worth seeking out if you would like to see some amazing historical textiles. Tucked away from many of the main attractions in Cairo, this museum holds a variety of intricate textile artefacts which are rarely seen. Set out and well labelled items are laid out for the visitor to admire. Interested in fine examples of ancient linens? Add this to the list you give to your guide.

Textile Museum
Mar 2019
It’s a little hard to find but worth the effort if you are near Khan al Kahlili bazaar and love historic textiles. Realizing some items on display are thousands of years old and still survive is hard to comprehend. Just don’t expect fancy, modern interactive exhibits. A couple hours here seems about right.

Informative museum on history of weaving
Sep 2018 • Solo
This museum presents the 6,000-year- old history of weaving in Egypt. On display are the shrouds and decorated bandages used to wrap mummies. There was a great display of vibrant designs of the Coptic weaving traditions including geometric and floral patterns.

Small but very enjoyable museum
Aug 2015 • Friends
One of the smaller museums, right in the middle of the Medieval City (I visited it several times well before 2015 but tripadvisor does not give me that option). If you are interested in historical textile this is a great place to visit. Beautiful collection, mainly pharaonic, coptic and islamic, well displayed.
