Posting a postcard in the underwater post office was fun, but the best thing was visiting Hideaway island. For day trippers, it's a lovely location but even better, why don't you stay a few nights? We really enjoyed our 5 nights there- very relaxing!

Accessible via Hideaway Island Resort, the underwater post office is located within the snorkeling area, which is actually a marine reserve. A pretty cool spot to dive down to (scuba not required). You can also post a postcard if you want. Good for photos.

Send yourself a postcard as a souvenir of your trip. Who gets to receive a card from an under water post office!

The P.O is in the Hideaway resort marine reserve. Which is wonderful to snorkel throughout. There is an entry fee to the island $17 Aus. Great place to spend the day.

An easy swim to the post office, there is a couple floating platform for you to rest. An interesting concept, but the post office is not manned (at least when I was there). You drop your post card off at the mailbox next to the...More

Something different for the kids. Snorkelling here is good. Lots of fish. (Take some bread to feed the fish). Food and drinks reasonable priced. Great relaxing day out.

We did this with boys aged 11 and 8 they loved the idea. The marine life there was terrific we snorkeled with cuttlefish. We posted a postcard but not sure if and when we will get it back in Australia.

This is a pure gimmick really. It is grubby and needs attention. You pay to swim out and put a postcard in the box underwater.

You can have a bit of fun snorkeling at Hideaway Island and post a plastic post card in the official underwater post office. It puts a smile on my face when I see it.

Hi Trish I agree with Kay B. Grab a taxi and negotiate the price beforehand. They should be able to take you and take you back (you may have to pay for them to wait, but seeing as you are on a cruise you want to make sure... More

If you have time to do a round of the island there are lots of little beaches and coves with clear water and beautiful fish. Hideaway is lovely and a good choice as it is not too far to travel.
