We booked two days on the boat for whale swimming. The first day was excellent! We had 11 swims with the whales and they came super close. The second day was a bit windy so we spent the day snorkeling on the reefs. We saw...More
An unforgettable day. Crew were respectful and professional with the whales and the guests. We swam with the whales they decided would be happy for us to approach them. The accuracy of Eli and George knowing which whales these were was reinforced by us not...More

1 - My partner gets sea sick very easily and he was very worried about being uncomfortable during the outing however he was fine the entire time. The sea was pretty calm and we had great weather. The boat is very small and has the potential to rock around a lot but because they want to get close to the whales they don't go very fast. You should be fine if you don't have rough seas. Take a couple dramamine pills with you just in case?
2 - You could still enjoy it if you stay on the boat the entire time, it would be like a traditional whale watching excursion. However the whole point of it is to swim with them. You do have to be able to swim. You are expected to swim up to them or out of their way if necessary. Snorkeling experience would help a lot. I would practice before going if I were you
The cost was TOP495 (NZD365) per person for the full day including pick up and return to Liku'alofa Resort. Sandwich lunch, morning coffee also included as was, for those who swam, all snorkelling gear including wetsuits.
