It is one of my favorite places in Port Moresby. It is a great place to see plenty of beautiful orchids, they have a great collection. It is also a wonderful place to have a walk and get some fresh air just 30 min. drive from Port Moresby. It is located in Adventure Park, on Sogeri Road a few miles after Bomona War Cemetery. The entrance fee is 5 Kinas, which also give you access to the beautiful aviary where you can see a lot of colorful and noisy parrots, birds of paradise and some other PNG birds. As it is inside the Adventure Park after visiting Orchids Garden you can take a walk in the Park (for free) to see some tree kangaroos and wallabys or just hang out on the lawn by the lake. Even if you are not an orchids addict it is worth it!

This must be one of Port Moresby's great treasures! I was blown away by the beautifully landscaped gardens and the variety and abundance of exquisite orchids. As an orchid lover, this was close to heaven, but a stunning display even for those who are not otherwise interested in them. The gardens are immaculately presented with well-kept paths and hedges, winding around between pools and statues with orchids on all sides. It feels like each turn takes you into a new room with another fantastic setting and orchid-ful panorama. Several garden areas were devoted primarily to spatulata dendrobiums - striking orchids that are native to Papua New Guinea, having large inflorescences of flowers with long twisted colourful petals. There is also a wide selection of vandas, large and showy. Other areas display cattleyas, other dendrobiums, and a variety of others that were not in bloom when we visited. Visiting cost us K5 for each adult, K2 for each child (paid at the Adventure Park PNG) - very good value. The only thing I felt was missing (unless I didn't see them) was some of PNG's unique miniature orchids - diplocaulobiums, small dendrobiums and others - which do not have the grand scale of the others in the exhibit, but deserve to be shown off in a display like this of Papua New Guinean orchids.

Wide variety of orchids in a very pleasant setting. Small lake with pedalos, no café found so take a picnic. Birds and animals appear to be cared for. For PNG this is a well done.

Visited the Orchid garden yesterday. Its part of the Adventure Park out at 14 mile. The park itself is ok. tidy, secure and with a mixture of child orientated attractions. Tree kangaroos, playground, crocodile, boating lake etc. Admission to the park is free but 5 kina for the orchid garden and rare birds. The orchid garden is lovely. well kept and presented. I am not an orchid expert but there was easily a dozen flowering species amid ponds and small gardens. very peaceful and beautifully presented. some good signage. the adjacent bird enclosure is good too with some interesting birds of paradise. But the orchid garden is worth the trip alone. Combine it on a sunday morning with a trip to the food market across the road at PAU. Makes for a good sunday morning.

The orchids are lovely, the gardens well landscaped. The birds of paradise overheating in tiny cages however are AWFUL!

The Orchid Garden was beautiful and immaculate, very pretty to stroll through the paths, so many different varieties of orchids on display and presented in ways that were interesting to explore, good interpretive signs, lots of shade, places to sit and relax. These gardens are a welcome retreat away from the hustle and noise of Moresby, they are situated just a couple of minutes drive from Bomana War Cemetery, probably about 30 mins drive from the city depending on traffic. The gardens felt very safe for visitors to enjoy and entry cost only 5K per adult (about $2.50 AUD). The absolute highlight was the bird sanctuary next to the gardens, with magnificent displays of local birdlife including 11 species of the Bird of Paradise, many colourful parrots, the queen victoria pidgeons wandering around, a resident pelican and a fantastic walk through avairy which we were lucky to visit right on feeding time. The local man who tends to the birds and was in charge of feeding when we visited was very proud of his park and it was a real pleasure to interact with him and to watch him interact with the birds. We had an escort with us who was able to interpret the Tok Pisin lingo and the man was telling us he has worked with Birds of Paradise for 32 years, so he definitely knows his stuff and was only too willing to share his knowledge with us as park visitors. There werent any points to dislike about our visit, although a little confusion for us upon arrival as there was no-one in attendance at the ticket office so we had to go looking for someone to be able to pay our entry fees. Overall we loved the Orchid Garden and would highly recommend it to other visitors.

Close to the airport, easy to get to. Beautiful garden! Mostly hybrids, but still worth visiting for an orchid lover.

Overview: This orchid garden, located within the Adventure Park, is a little slice of paradise.

The Good: Second only to Ecuador, PNG is home to the most orchid species in the world. Dozens are on display here.

The Bad: I like to leave balanced reviews, but there's really nothing negative to be said.

What started off as just a time filler turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Beautiful flowers and a very, very relaxing atmosphere. If you happen to find yourself in Port Moresby this place is highly recommended.
