Terrific museum. Lots of Botero's paintings, sculptures, etchings, plus his private collection featuring Picasso, Leger, Soutine, Ernst, Beckmann, Chagall, Van Dongen, Dali, Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, Monet, Villard, Pissarro, Caillebotte. The museum is connected to Museo de Arte and Casa de Moneda. They have a good cafeteria in the inner yard. Admission is free.

Bogota is a big, cosmopolitan city with all the rough edges you’d expect. We stayed in a very upscale neighborhood Zona G but roamed all over in some not-so-savory neighborhoods. A bustling, fascinating city to explore on foot. Many colorful plazas and parks and Colonial architecture. Never a hint of danger. But certain neighborhoods are best not visited on foot at night. Uber was cheap and prevalent and indispensable. The Botero Museum is a must-see. Also the Paloquemao market is enormous and a real experience. Get there early to catch the flower market in full bloom. Gold Museum was interesting and the plaza outside was lively. Bagatelle is a chain, but the coffee was excellent and the baked goods also good. A nice place for breakfast and reasonable. Not so reasonably priced, but worth a splurge is Osk Cocina Nikkei. Very lively, very very good food. But expect to pay for a fun evening with great Asian food if that appeals. Next door is La Brasserie. Also good, but pricey. Street food in the Paloquemao Market is varied, very Colombian, good and reasonably priced. Just exercise common sense as you would in any Third World city. Bogota is at 8,660 feet altitude. Acclimate before you go charging all over the city. Enjoy.

World class museum... The museum is phenomenal. It is located at the La Candelaria, which is the historic center of Bogota. It is walking distance from Bolivar square, the palace of justice, the parliament, and the house of Narino. It is a very safe area of Bogota. Entrance is always free. It closes on Tuesdays. The museum opens at 900 am and closes at 700 pm. The exhibits are excellent! The include the Botero collection with the Cat, Pedrito, still life with ice cream :), etc. A collection of universal art with painting by Picasso, Soutin, Pisarro, Chagall, Bonnard, etc. There is a beautiful collection of colonial art. The collection of coins and bills tells the history of the country from a different and very interesting financial perspective. The most impressive exhibit is one that most people miss, the monstrance, the lettuce and its companions. They are beautiful, simply spectacular. You may spend the whole afternoon at the museum. It is exciting!

A must visit if you're in Bogota. A fantastic collection of Botero's painting and sculptures, but also works by many other renowned artists such as Picasso, Degas and Klimt, all housed in a lovely historic building. What's more it is completely free!

Very beautiful paintings and different arts with bronze, metal, aluminum and others. The complex have 2 floors. Is free. In addition inside of the museum is another with the history of coins and dollars. Unfortunately the store to buy souvenirs was closed.

A local friend suggested to spend a Sunday at this museum. At first I did not expect much, but just wanted to spend some time in her company, but was pleasantly surprised at the variety of artwork at a relatively small place. As the name suggests, there was a good number of Boteros, but have there are other modern artists as well. The architecture is charming and the building well-maintained. We had a late lunch at the restaurant with a mediterranean flair. We split an hors d'oeuvre which was absolutely delicious! (Or maybe because I was very hungry from all that walking around)! :)

This is an incredible spot! No entrance fee; lovely buildings and a mind blowing collection. The Botero’s are phenomenal, and Botero’s private collection with many grand masters is a delight, well worth a wonder!
