If you park in the lower parking lot the stairs to ascend are very steep(and there are a lot of stairs)...if you park from the top parking lot (where most of the buses park and there is a building) then you can walk down the hill and judge how far you want to walk knowing how far you need to walk back to your car. You will experience nice views this way however will not make it down to the Spring (I am not sure if that is important to you or not).
I hope this helps.
